RAS Facilites and Capital

Facilities Meeting

I had a long dissertation posted here regarding my perceptions about RAS plans, motives and philosophy. The reality is that you need to get to the meeting and judge for yourself.

Just remember things are moving slower than many would have assumed based on last January's meetings. Be prepared to hear what is happening... Then form your own opinions.

  1. Close these schools ASAP. District wide e-mail just hit from the Super - 5.7 million in cuts for the 2010 - 2011 budget. That should send people right over the edge!

  5. I note that we are again seeing a "greater than expected decline in enrollment." I hear this every six months. Who's coming up with these highball estimates?

It's time for 281 to finally put forward a no-frills budget.

  6. Speed - I'm pretty sure we will see something unexciting coming up. :-) I mean, keep in mind the district is already looking at cutting 26.7 FTE's for teachers and that is before they cut 5.7 million. Expect another 50 or so on top of that number. That would be about 3.0 million of that number. Another 2.7 in one time shifts to buses again?

  7. My last post on this matter for a bit but what is the deal with that spreadsheet. So we expect 3.6 million less in revenue because of declining enrollment but FTE cuts only account for 1.6 million of reductions. I don't expect it to line up 1 for 1 and it shouldn't but that seems to be a pretty big gap.

BTW - congrats on the raise 281 teachers. 3.0 million on next years budget.
