My opinion--less focus should be based on # of years and amount of education, more focus should be on how they do. And i recognize that measuring performance is not an easy thing to do. That is the question where there are lots of opinions and discussion, but little agreement and thus action.<br /><br />I think teachers should be well compensated...but i also demand a lot from them. They are entitled to all the pay and benefits that their professional achievement warrants. Oh, you say they are just union slogs who can't be fired regardless of performance? Early retirement. Tenure.
