I found these interesting, especially after Laurie and Sean were attacking me for my Trump vote.
FOX News Michelle Obama Speaks
CNN Michelle Obama Speaks
FOX Opinion Do Not Speak for Me
Apparently Michelle Obama thinks that women who voted for Trump didn't "listen to their voice". How can Liberals be so EGOTISTICAL?

I agree with Michelle. While I definitely wouldn't say that women voters should always choose a woman candidate over the male candidate, in this case the choice was very stark. It was very clear which candidate, respects women and understands issues important to women. Any women voting for Trump was even crazier than men voting for Trump.
ReplyDeleteMost women agree with Michelle. How many women (millions I believe) marched against Trump right after his inauguration. Only Trump could inspire the pussy hat.
ReplyDeleteIt's polite, politically correct way, I have saying that Trump played American voters for fools.

I think it's strange how people sift through the verbiage to find criticism of Trump that's so vague and awkward. Why not just go to the heart of it? Trump is viewed as a con man and a thug, somebody who is unfit to be president. Why search out for criticism phrased in terms of voices of women, whatever that means, when the Billy Bush tape is out there?
ReplyDeleteWe have a president who the American people didn't vote for, and is viewed by them with contempt. Why not address that issue?

Laurie,
ReplyDeleteNow you do realize how judgmental and demeaning this is to the 10's of millions of women who voted for Trump?
"Any women voting for Trump was even crazier than men voting for Trump."
Apparently you see yourself as sane / rational and them as insane / irrational?
I don't know why anyone is interested in what Michelle Obama says these days, or they way she frames issues. She is, after all, a private citizen.
ReplyDeleteWhat do we think about Trump's policies toward women? Is he working to close the pay gap? Does he deny there is a pay gap? Is he working to lower health care costs for women? Or raise them? Or is he indifferent to them? If that's those are the issues we are concerned about, let's deal with them directly, and not by analyzing the odd, out of context, comments of someone who is no longer in politics.

I am more interested to know if women who voted for Trump see themselves as crazy and/or dominated by the men in their lives?
ReplyDeleteOr if they are rational and/or in control of their own lives in the private voting box. Why do women like Michelle, Hillary and Laurie see themselves as smarter, more rational and caring more about women?
As for policies toward women ...
ReplyDeletePlease remember that many do not see more "government regulations and laws" as the solution to all social issues...
And don't forget that the abortion policy is pretty important to many women.
ReplyDeleteApparently 664,435 of them occurred in 2013. That means that about 300,000 little baby girls did not even get to be born.
I am more interested to know if women who voted for Trump see themselves as crazy and/or dominated by the men in their lives?
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't think so.
People tend to see laws and regulations as solutions when they have a problem. Many people object to abortion, and advocate laws and regulations against it. Republicans speak of "laws and regulations" to avoid dealing with specifics that are politically disadvantageous to them. It's the same strategy that allows them to favor tax cuts in general, while avoiding specific cuts in expenditures.

I was a big fan of the mini-series, "I, Cladius" produced in the late 1070's. I have watched it many times, and I think it's currently available on one of the streaming services.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, and this is a spoiler alert, in the last episodes, Claudius arranges for the succession of the evil Nero, because he believes Nero is so evil that the country will rise up and sweep away the corruption that produced him. The logic is convenient. How can moralistic people support and immoral politician? Simple. The worse the politician is, the more quickly the reaction will be, the faster the swamp will be drained.
This logic, as finely as it is crafted, wasn't realized in Rome. Politics, not to mention history, is rather frustratingly illogical. I wonder if it will work in the Age of Trump.

What makes it crazy for women (or men) to vote for Trump is he is mentally ill and unfit to be president. He falls outside the norm of typical or acceptable presidents. It is unprecedented in how bad of a candidate / president he is. He is uniquely unqualified to hold office. I though GW was a bad president, but Trump is beyond terrible as president. I expect him to be rated at the very bottom once he has been in office long enough to be rated (number 45 out of 45)
ReplyDelete(btw Obama has been rated as the 12th best president by presidential scholars.)
Only time will tell... I agree that he lies, brags, threatens, attacks, belittles and many other terrible things. He seems to thrive when he is manipulating people.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, Syria/Iraq are stabilizing somewhat. The number of regulations are being reduced. Taxes may come down. Spending is being reprioritized. The stock market and our retirement funds love him. He is making people work on healthcare solutions. Etc...
I am thinking time will tell how he did... The historians won't care about his theatrics, they will just care about the results.
Please remember that you want a soft sweet country where everyone is taken care of and protected by a big bloated expensive bureaucracy whether they choose to work or not.
ReplyDeleteI want a very globally competitive country that can keep creating wealth faster and enable hard working Americans to have the best quality of life in the world. And I am fine with the less motivated folks having a much lower standard of living.
I am not cruel, I just think it is the best interest of all Americans to have every able bodied American helping to pull the wagon. Not riding in it.
