NPR Facebook Bans Alex Jones, Louis Farrakhan And Other 'Dangerous' Individuals
Thank Heavens !!! There is no reason to give manipulative hateful people a free platform from which to work and spread their untruths.
And of course our liar in chief is supporting the manipulators. :-(
David French at National Review doe raise a valid concern.
If you are unfamiliar with Infowars and Alex Jones...

"I firmly believe men like Alex Jones and Louis Farrakhan are truly loathsome. They’re toxic to our nation and to our culture. I’m also deeply concerned about Facebook’s decision....
I understand Facebook’s desire to rid itself of terrible speech, especially given the rise of online hate. But when considering how to deal with the worst ideas, it’s prudent to rely on principles of free speech and common law that have served America so well for so long. Facebook has a right to invent its own rules, but perhaps it’s better to exercise that right by deferring to the wisdom of the past."The challenge of course is that FaceBook can get sued and be pulled in front of Congress when things go wrong. Personally I agree with their decision, we need more civil discourse and ideas. Not more conspiracy theories and hate speech.

Speech is free, but you don't have to be in business with it. Gun advocates firmly believe making guns available to psychopaths doesn't make the slaughter of of innocents more likely. The media companies who provide facilities those same psychopaths use to express their views publicly aren't quite so sure.

That is pretty much what I think...
ReplyDeleteOf course Liberals who want Businesses to be forced to associate with everyone may disagree.
It's a question of perspective, really. Most businesses want to avoid political controversy, but some are in the business of inviting it. In general, I don't have a problem with selling groceries to potential murderers, but I do have a problem with selling them semi automatic firearms. If that's a contradiction, I guess I am comfortable with it.

ReplyDeleteYou know it's a day ending in 'y' when the proprietor of G2A makes a wildly inaccurate description of what liberals believe.
My error...
ReplyDeleteI should not have said "everyone"...
Just LGBTQ folks...

ReplyDeleteSean,
ReplyDeleteThere is no doubt that Liberals want to force Religious Conservatives to do business with LGBTQ individuals... Is there?

ReplyDeleteWithin the appropriate scope, yes. But your statement from 7:53 last night is still not accurate.
