Retaliation by Trump

This seems so wrong, since we the tax payers want government personnel to tell us when they think politicians are doing something questionable or illegal. That is why we have judges and other systems to review and deal with these concerns.

Without this our system becomes susceptible to corruption and other breaches of the public trust.

For you Trump True Believers, how would you take it of Obama started to fire any public employees who questioned his behavior or reported possible wrong doings?

Are you really supportive of politicians intimidating "OUR EMPLOYEES"?  Please remember that they work for the US Citizens, not another of our employees who envisions himself to be some kind of King who can put heads on pikes to keep his dealings secretive.  Our maybe that is what you want?

Here is a very disturbing piece by David French that has put his finger on the problem. :-(

If the President Is Going to Be So Powerful, Can We Ask He Also Be Good?

  1. I was amused that at after a guy gave a speech in favor of the Sermon on the Mount, Trump came out against it. I am a regular attendee of prayer breakfasts, and I have to say, that was a first.

  2. Yes, when they think.

Do you believe that it is somehow the whistleblower's job to do the investigation before blowing the whistle?

Should a 911 caller arrest, prosecute, and judge a criminal before calling 911? Or should they say something when they see something?

  3. As David French wrote:

"We also know that the people are turning a blind eye to presidential misdeeds. Fear and hatred of the other side trumps any concern for truth and dignity on their own. The president has permission to do as he wills, so long as he wins.

Sure, the president’s partisan defenders will promise they were principled. But we know the truth. We know that if you switched the parties but kept all the facts the same, we’d have seen essentially the same outcome. There would be a few members of Congress who’d remain true to their convictions, but only a few. Every single angry Republican taking to Fox to furiously defend Trump would be impeaching a Democratic president under identical facts. Many of the Democrats who impeached Trump worked mightily to keep Bill Clinton in the Oval Office.

It’s cynical. It’s shameful. And it magnifies the power of the president immensely, far beyond the Founders’ intent."

  4. Jerry would have been cheering on "whistle blowers" within the Obama and Clinton administrations. He would have been calling them heroes.

He would have been screaming "cover up" if Obama had refused to co-operate with the investigation.

And he would have been complaining that Obama was acting like a King if he had retaliated in such a way.

However since he wants this politician to have the power and cover of a dictator he rolls over on his back and let's the politician rub his belly like a "good dog"...

It is so hypocritical, predictable and obvious that it makes me sad for easily manipulated humans. :-(

On the worse or better side, as French notes there are a lot of the easily manipulated and inconsistent humans on both the far right and far left. At least Jerry is not alone. :-)

  5. Hiram,
Yes it pretty apparent that the Trump's did not attend Sunday School as children, or in anyway study the Bible.

  6. I am mean this very STUPID comment by our supposedly Christian President...

"Arthur Brooks, a Harvard Kennedy School professor, told those attending the annual event in Washington to “love your enemies” and cast aside hatred, to which the president responded, “Arthur, I don’t know if I agree with you.”"

I mean is he so removed that he does not recognize the guiding words of our Lord and Savior?

  7. Now I do acknowledge that we are all sinners, and that applies to Trump also...

But why wouldn't religious conservatives call him on this very sinful action?

You really think insulting me is a way to draw me back into the conversation? All you are doing is proving my point, that those with TDS "think" there was something wrong with that "perfect" phone call, and for that they wasted months of time, millions of dollars and millions of hours of "news" coverage on a massive hoax. The whistleblower did not even HEAR the call! He just THOUGHT something must have been wrong with it, because of his obvious animus towards the President. Is that really something we want to "cheer" and encourage?

  9. Jerry,
Well Vindman did hear the phone call, he answered a subpoena and he testified to what he heard / did.

And now the President has removed him and his brother from their jobs and is apparently trying to get at least one disciplined.

Again... Is this what you expect from your politicians?

The harassment of our military officers?

Then their is Sondland who also answered a subpoena, testified and has been removed from his position...

As I said, you would have freaked if Obama had started firing everyone who had just answered a summons and testified.

  10. And as Moose noted above, we people who believe in law, order and transparent government want people to report when they think politicians and bureaucrats are doing something that is wrong.

Just as you normally would want them to do...

Unfortunately in Trump's case you do not want that kind of transparency for some reason.

  11. As for the cost of the investigation... The reality is that the GOP and DEMs have gridlock going and Congress can just as well spend their time doing this as campaigning for 2020... So the investigation was pretty much free.

  12. "...and for that they wasted months of time, millions of dollars..."

That's rich, coming from a Republican.

    Benghazi
    emails
    Hunter Biden
    Investigation into the Russia Investigation

And now you support the dismantling of the rule of law by the DOJ.

We sure do live in interesting times.

  13. Moose,
That what was fascinating about the French piece.

I truly think that people on the Far Right and Far Left have NO IDEA exactly how hypocritical they are... :-(

They have decided that the opposition is so evil... That pretty much anything done by their party is good...

  14. Heck, the Mueller investigation is pretty much a break-even operation based on the $36 million in illegal assets Manafort was forced to turn over.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yep. Mueller Net Cost

Definitely much less expensive than many of the GOP "witch hunts"...
