Trump: His Own Worst Enemy

Hands the Democrats another Issue, as he says withholding money to help the Post Office during this difficult time is tied to his trying to slow voting and make it more difficult.  More PO Details.
Then there is his strange comments regarding deferring / cutting payroll taxes.  How does he think we will pay the SS, SSD and Medicare benefits?
Which leads to why many people will choose to vote for Biden...  He is not Trump.
And yet I assume the Republicans will nominate him...  I guess we will get what we deserve?
Thoughts?

  1. If the government mishandles a ballot, does it then have the power or the right to discard it?
If the government fails to deliver a properly cast ballot on time, should it then be able to throw the ballot away?

  2. Racism isn't about how people are, it's about how we choose to see them.

  3. It depends on how the laws are written.

And a lot of Liberals are choosing to see police officers and conservatives in a very negative way.

I would argue that to the extent that they do, they aren't acting liberally. They are doing what we really shouldh't do, embracing the attitudes and tactics of conservatives. It's like with the Linoln Prject, the Republicans who are using hard hitting tactics typical of Republican advertising against Donald Trump. They are fun to watch, but what is unclear to me is that these tactics, so effective for Republicans, can work for Democrats.

I see a lot of nihilism, and nihilism is fun. Republicans long ago gave into their nihilist urges, and hundreds of thousands are dying for it. We have those same urges but I at least like to think we have not given into them. Maybe I am wrong, and if I am, heaven help us.

  5. I am not sure anyone is trying to destroy organizations?
But they all think they know what a better mouse trap looks like.

    Nihilism
1a: a viewpoint that traditional values and beliefs are unfounded and that existence is senseless and useless

Nihilism is a condition in which all ultimate values lose their value. — Ronald H. Nash

1b: a doctrine that denies any objective ground of truth and especially of moral truths

2a: a doctrine or belief that conditions in the social organization are so bad as to make destruction desirable for its own sake independent of any constructive program or possibility

  6. I am not sure anyone is trying to destroy organizations?

Trump is clearly trying to destroy institutions, Congress being one example, the post office another. And it's going around, the destruction of police departments and other law enforcement agencies are expample on our side that I am not proud of.

What happens if the election is delayed long enough to throw it to the House of Representatives. The presidential election in the house is decided by the states. If Trump loses the popular vote, blocks the electoral college from operating, and wins in the house, what happens? Will people accept the legitimacy of his election, because it is in accord with the rules? If it does, will our federal government survive?

  7. It is a long way from change to destroy...

But many people really fear change...

  8. It is a long way from change to destroy...

Well, Trump isn't very close to changing things at all. He isn't that kind of guy.

  10. I remember entered into a trade deal with China. He wanted it really badly, so he ignored the health threat coming from that country. The result was an economic collapse in the United States, an abandonment of the deal he made by China, and the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans. This is nihilism.

  11. Actually he shut down travel from China...

Most of the virus came via Europe...

  12. The problem wasn't that he shut down travel from China. The problem is that he didn't shut down travel. Trump thinks the virus was brought here from China. In fact, it was brought here by humans. He made the worst mistake a politician can make, he confused a political problem with a health problem. This is why a hundred and fifty thousand Americans have died and more are dying every day. This is the price we are all paying because Republicans nominated a man who was unfit for the presidency of the United States.

  13. You said...

"He wanted it really badly, so he ignored the health threat coming from that country."

I replied that he did not ignore their health threat or give them special treatment...

  14. He didn't ban travel, which is why hundreds and thousands of Americans have died. He failed in the President's most basic job; he failed to keep us safe.

  15. I agree he could have done better.

Though I think this was a big challenge for any President.

  16. That's why the president gets the big money.

I remember how bitterly and widely President Obama was criticized including by President Trump for his handling of pandemics in which several people died.

When the Republicans chose Donald Trump, a man they knew was unfit to be president, the committed the political equivalent of a mortal sin. With hundreds of thousands dying, America is paying the price for their arrogance, their hubris, and quite frankly for their lack of patriotism.I, quite frankly, at a loss as to where we go from here. A two party system needs two parties. And while those two parties may have their differences, both parties must have a deep commitment to America, and it's values. Both parties, whatever the failings their members display as individuals, must value and aspire to basic dececncy. Those qualities are simply lacking in a party that would put Donald Trump for president. That must change.
