People are Weird

To me it is so strange...

When people on the Left misbehave and perform civil disobedience. The folks on the Left cheer them on and say that they are fighting for... And the people on the Right call them thugs, law breakers, etc.

When people on the Right misbehave and perform civil disobedience, The folks on the Right cheer them on and say that they are fighting for... And the people on the Left call them thugs, law breakers, etc.

I will never understand the thinking Tribe Left and Tribe Right members?

Me personally I would toss all law breakers in jail... Whether you are occupying the capital or occupying I35W.

  1. I see both siderism is rampant this morning.

I watched this documentary a couple of months ago, and have been reminded of it a lot, lately. I suppose in this context, it is an exploration of "left wing violence" perhaps the most famous example of it in our history.

One thing that struck me is that in the aftermath of Kent State, it was the demonstrators, not the National Guardsmen who were prosecuted. And that polling afterwards indicated the American people thought that those who were killed at Kent State got what they deserved. Both siderism doesn't work all that well when only one side has prosecutors, courts, and of course automatic weapons.

  2. I made this response to a similar comment on FB...

Do you mean the context that the BLM folks were breaking laws to fight an injustice you perceive to be real?

Where as the folks today were breaking laws to fight an injustice that you do not believe is real?

Remember that for humans "perception is often reality". The Right sees your concerns as Not Real... You see their concerns as Not Real...

And the vilifying, name calling and attacking continues... 🙁

If those had been BLM supporters forcing their way into the Capitol to disrupt something, 1 had died, several were injured and dozens were arrested...

How would your response be different or similar?

  3. Do you mean the context that the BLM folks were breaking laws to fight an injustice you perceive to be real?

I don't think the people who were breaking laws were fighting injustice.

Where as the folks today were breaking laws to fight an injustice that you do not believe is real?

I certainly don't think the people who were attacking the capitol were fighting injustice. If I won't defend the rioters in Minneapolis, why would I defend the rioters in DC?

And the vilifying, name calling and attacking continues.

Both villifying and name calling are protected by the Constitution. Our president is an evil man. Why is it even inappropriate to villify him?

  4. Hiram,
It is good that you are consistent.

Trump probably deserves vilifying after the last year of incompetence and rabble rousing.

  5. Well...Trump's EO from last summer in response to the protests around the country means that the people who attacked our government will be treated to prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.

Beyond that, I won't engage in this conversation, as I don't tolerate equating those protesting for their lives to those trying to overthrow a government.

  6. I support BLM and see their protests as mostly peaceful, but I think many peaceful protesters get caught up in and join the action once the looting starts. Last May there were hundreds or perhaps thousands of people looting. What is hard for me to understand is the property destruction. Last May parts of Lake street looked like a war zone. I don't think people spoke out enough about the hoards of people destroying the city.

  7. What I find fascinating is the change in the Liberal's language.

"Nearly half of Republican voters — 45 percent — approved of the storming of the Capitol, according to a You Gov poll." Laurie

"the people who attacked our government" Moose

"protesting for their lives to those trying to overthrow a government." Moose

Last Summer BLM folks were protesting, occupying, protecting their rights, etc.

And yet in this case where people force there way into a building and occupy it.

The Left thinks words attack, overthrow, storming, coup, insurrection, etc seemingly apply when people protest who believe differently than them. Lately they are sounding a LOT like Trump last year. :-)

  8. I don't have a problem with peaceful demonstrations. And I understand how passions can rise and get people close to the edge. I do object to violence. And I object to disproportionate use of force by law enforcement. Last summer, there will people saying looters should be shot, that deadly force should be used against rioters. Well no. Deadly force shouldn't have been used then, just as it shouldn't have been used at the Capitol on Wednesday.

That said, it is appropriate to move on to the causes of the demonstrations. The BLM members were responding to the murder of a black man by a police officer. That's a problem. ON Wednesday, the demonarators were trying to overturn a lawful, and fairly conducted election, based on the lies of a fascist demagogue. Let's just say, I have my concerns.

  9. Your bias is showing again.

The system is going to determine if the fentanyl laden suspect was murdered or not?

The protestors were in essence out to "lynch" the police officer. They were out to subvert the system to their will.

  10. They stormed the U.S. Capitol Building, where our entire elected government, save Trump, was in session, and you're confused about the language people are using to describe it?

There is no comparison to the protests and occupations of last summer.

    You're lost.

  11. Did you see them threatening anyone once they got in the building?

To me they looked like tourists...

  12. Because the people in there had the good sense to hide from those that wished them harm.

  13. I mean...molotov cocktails and zip ties...what do you think they were prepared to do? And remember, these are the same types of people (if not the very same people) who plotted to kidnap the Governor of Michigan.

    Wake up.

  14. Just like the BLM protests then 95% were really nice peaceful folks and 5% were criminals.
