Now if the DEMs
could get their heads out of their butts... :-) :-)
What I think is a possibility is that the president will at some point claim that the election system is rigged and that elections will not be held until the rigging issues are solved, i.e. never.==Hiram
I do think there is a substantial possibility that the court would go along with Trump. I saw an interview with Barrett in which she was asked about the possibility of a second Trump term. Instead of just saying no, she directed the attention of the interviewer to the 22nd amendment. I didn't find that to be an encouraging answer.--Hiram
The Supreme Court has already demonstrated its willingness to go around the constitution with respect to its decision about the insurrection clause. I also believe the immunity case in which it held the president to above the law is perhaps the most significant case in our history, as subsequent events have proven. I have no doubt at all, that stopping elections is well within the president's powers under that decision.--Hiram
What, specifically, are you the most concerned about? For me it is hard to choose. I think more violence is likely. Having the military occupying more cities is really bad. Tariffs and inflation and rising health care costs all affect me. National security and foreign policy under Trump is terrible. What's on your list? Laurie
Mostly that the DEMs seem unable to develop and promote a moderate alternative. It will be unfortunate if they can not win control of Congress in 2026. :-O
I am also disappointed with the Dems. I think their policies are moderate and OK, but they are very bad at media / communication. They need new leaders. Laurie
It depends a lot on how things playe out. The Biden economy was just fine, but we didn't run on it effectively. A big part of that, I think, was that Biden was unable to present that message effectively. We can attribute that to his disabilities, but the fact is, Joe Biden was always a terrible presidential candidate. Never in his career did he make an impact in any of the elections he ran in.==Hiram
The challenge is... How will they remove the weapons that they have given the MAGA? - DEMs unwilling to support common sense abortion restrictions. Their answer always seems to be "woman's choice no matter what) - DEMs willing to let asylum seekers in without bounds. And then resisting their deportation. - Not supporting common sense Trans sports / bathroom restrictions. - Not supporting holding Public Employees accountable for results and cost reductions.

ReplyDeleteHopefully you are wrong. :-O
ReplyDeleteThe sad / scary part is the supreme court might go along with Trump cancelling elections. Laurie

ReplyDeleteMaybe Trump's health will be too poor for him to try to run for a third term. Laurie

ReplyDeleteSo says the Left Leaning Lady... :-) How are they going to start taking back the rural districts? :-O
ReplyDeleteI think the dems need to run on economic issues. Also, they need to a better jump opposing Trump. They currently look weak. Laurie
