Okay I made it to Sao Paulo Brazil, and yes they wonder about the news we get from people outside Brazil. I will not get up to the Amazon region since it is no where near here. (see below)
Anything you want me to ask? Here are some things I have learned already.
Anything you want me to ask? Here are some things I have learned already.
- 79% Renewable Energy, mostly hydro-electric So they find France's whining strange since they are at ~16%.
- Brazil has the 8th largest GDP, it has people, it has natural resources and will likely grow fast
- Sao Paulo is the biggest chunk of Brazil's economy
- Brazil is about the same size as 48 states
Hmmm. I note these are emissions REDUCTION targets, and since France has long been about 75% nuclear, the targets are meaningless. Meaningless anyway, since manmade CO2 is not a significant driver of global warming.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious as to your graphic, since I was told Brasilia was "carved out of the jungle" does the graphic only show protected/endangered areas, or does it show the whole jungle/rainforested area? Anything being done to stop dangerous exploitation of the resources, such as mercury in gold mining? Illegal logging or animal poaching?
ReplyDeleteJerry,
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a lot of Brazil is outside the rain forest.
Now the reality is that most everyone lives elsewhere but the desperate and wealth want to pillage the natural resources.
Unfortunately Brazil's new President and a lot like Trump. He has been undermining the environmental protections, lowering the fines and put the dept of agriculture in charge.
And yet he apparently just signed a protection pact.
