Romney Speech Regarding Impeachment
We really screwed up by not electing him President. :-(
Though I am sure he is somewhat of a pariah right now within Trump's GOP. The good news for him is he is a very rich man who can sleep assured that he kept his vow in front of God to be impartial.
Unlike a lot of the Senators on both sides. (mostly on the GOP) :-)

Which dem senators failed in their duty/oath to be impartial?
I can't speak to which ones?
I am just assuming that in an impartial jury trial there should be people ruling across party lines.
Like Collin Peterson voting against impeachment... Anytime I see straight "party line" voting it is very suspect.
do you think Trump should have been found innocent. The opinions I read there is widespread agreement from across the political spectrum that he is guilty. From opinion writers it is bipartisan agreement.
I think Romney probably got it correct.
No one forced the House to barrel ahead before they got the courts on their side.
For the house to seek help of the judiciary in the exercise of it's impeachment powers would have been a clear violation of the separation of powers.

The Executive branch had 1 stated view.
The House had a different stated view.
The Courts are there to break the tie.

The House has the power to impeach. The constitution is quite clear on the subject. Nowhere in the constitution does it say the executive branch has the power to interfere with impeachment. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say the judiciary has a role in the impeachment process otherwise than that the Supreme Court CJ shall preside. For the House to resort to the courts would be a shocking violation of the constitution.

There would be a tie if the constitution gave the executive a role in the impeachment process. It doesn't.

As far as I can tell, no where does it state that the Executive branch has to cooperate with the Legislative branch's investigation.

Why should it? It's Congress who has the power to impeach. It's the American people who have the right to a president who is not guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors. Was that right respected?

Yes. He was acquitted.
So now the president is not subject to congressional oversight. The ultimate judgment lies with the voters. But voters judged that Hillary Clinton, not Donald Trump should be president. Bananas have better republics.
