and why are so many people like ants? My guess is the usual suspects:
People who want money, power, fame, control, etc...
And are fine with lying to and manipulating foolish people to get it.
My question is why do so many Americans have the mental capacity of ants??? 🙂
And why are they so inconsistent? 🙂 Thoughts?

I'd say fox news gets much of the blame for making conservatives hate liberals.
Forget Social Media: Fox News Is Still the Real Problem
I'd also give them some credit for making conservative so misinformed that I have a strong dislike for them and what they're doing to our country.
Ah... Yes they are a mouth piece and they spew it because people like to hear it apparently.
Their motive is easy... Viewers = Advertisers = Money & Fame
But someone is behind their curtain creating the content.
And unfortunately MSNBC, Mother Jones and other folks try to attract Liberal viewers in a similar way.
I mean why do your friend Krugman and Drum write provocative stuff?
Bias / Quality
Here is something a regular Fox News contributor said recently"
Ainsley Earnhardt: "There are 75 million people that voted for President Trump and they're scared. They're worried about what the future of this country looks like. They're confused. They're heart-broken that their candidate didn't win. And they don't want to be forgotten."
Now it's easy to dismiss and even ridicule comments like this. I know I felt this way the last time the Vikings suffered a bad playoff loss. But I also says something deeper about how politics works on an emotional level, not just here, but everywhere. Not just now but the way it always has. There have always been people who felt isolated, marginalized. The question really is, how do politicians respond to this, and for some, how do they exploit this?

Excellent comment.
Totally agree. Except I think this goes far beyond just the politicians.
There seem to be a lot of people that the think they can benefit by stoking the divide. :-(
"And unfortunately MSNBC, Mother Jones and other folks try to attract Liberal viewers in a similar way."
False equivalence. They are not stoking the fires of insurrection.

I don't watch much FOX, but I have never seen them recommended...
Insurrection: a violent uprising against an authority or government.
Where as the Left media was pretty cozy with the BLM protests that turned violent.
Fox News played a role in Republican politics that is simply not comparable to other media. It should not be both sided. Trump was basically a commentator on Fox for decades before he ran for president with regular morning call in slots. Leading Fox figures were prominent de facto Fox advisers. Trump looked to Fox for appointments, and Trump officials after leaving the administration were often hired by Fox.
With Trump's defeat, and really with the total discrediting of Trump, Fox is thoroughly in the lurch. As a cable news network, they were simply awful. I can't think of a significant story they ever broke, not even the anti Democrat stories. They have too many commercials and way too many of them are from the My Pillow guy who subsidizes them.
I know this sounds like famous last words, but what we may have seen in the last few days is a sea change in how Trump is viewed. His call to insurrection, oddly straightforward as it was, left his supporters little room to claim ambiguity. They don't seem to be able at this point to claim that he was joking, or that he didn't really mean the way his words were taken. They were all too blunt, the effect of the cause all too clear. But as Trump himself might say, "We will see."

They have shown an amazing ability to deny reality so far.
"Where as the Left media was pretty cozy with the BLM protests that turned violent."
I can't help you if you don't see the difference. First of all, the BLM protests didn't "turn violent". You only have to look at who is being charged and convicted of the crimes that happened alongside the peaceful protests. But more importantly, neither the protestors nor the criminals were attempting to overthrow an election.

There are lines Fox News will not cross. And now with Trump gone, they will have a new reality to adjust to. Can some sort of political viability be resumed by Trump? Or is he irreparably damaged? It is too soon to tell.
--Hiram
Yes some of the BLM damage was done by non-affiliated anarchists.
But a lot was done by normal criminals that hung out with them. Those stores did not loot themselves
New topic idea: Should Trump be Impeached- We are having a disagreement about this in my house.
Here is an informational link that does not argue either side to this question.
Explainer: Trump is heading for second impeachment. Here's how it could play out
about _ MSNBC, Mother Jones and other folks try to attract Liberal viewers in a similar way
both of those organizations have a much stronger tradition of basing their opinions on facts and do not traffic in big lies - such as the election was stolen
many news organizations and politicians can most accurately be described as the moderate left. The far left is much smaller and less influential than the far right.
Sorry... But I try to avoid both the little crazy and the lot crazy opinion sites.
Except what I want to find out what tea is being provided to each of the tribes.
my preferred news sources on the center left are not even a little bit crazy. They are very accurate in their facts and have a point of view that supports good government.
That is what my parents say about FOX... :-)
This is an excellent TED Talk
Another excellent TED Talk in written form.
It should be renamed... "What enables white supremacy, minority gangs, etc"
This issue in comparing left wing and right wing media ia an area in which you are very stupid, as they are not the same.
Right wing media has nearly all their followers believing the big lie that the election was stolen, Left wing media does not equally misinfom their followers. What big lie have we ever been toild on the left.
Maybe this will be the next big lie:
‘Not all Trump supporters’: Conservative media tries to shift blame, cast doubt on identities of Capitol invaders
Laurie,
Personally I find the Leftward media's mistruths much more insidious.
They work to create victims where there are none, label police as villains, brain wash people that more government is the solution over holding citizens accountable for their life choices,
blame successful people for other people's failure, etc.
Please do not underestimate the long term damage this can cause.

All of your examples are opinions, not examples of being misinformed factually.
Here is another example of a big lie on the right- climate change is a hoax.
Unfortunately that is the majority of the problem.
Opinions drive emotions which drives readership / viewership which drives advertising which drives revenues.
I will stick with the more centered / less biased news sources.
Between G2A and Facebook I get plenty of opinions... :-)
"Personally I find the Leftward media's mistruths much more insidious.

Creating victims where there are none is what right-wing media does all the time. Donald Trump's entire Presidency has been one four-year long whine about how he and his followers are being victimized. But it didn't start there. How about the "War on Christmas"? Or the fervent belief that hordes of brown people ae on their way to take your jobs and commit all of the crimes? I could go on, but you get the point.
Good point.
As one of my FB friends said. Both Tribes Rely on Whatever Tools are available to Manipulate the Masses. This link is from the post I left last night.
So the Far Right is trying to make people scared of "losing Christmas / Religion", crime, illegal residents, gang members, loss of freedoms, etc.
And the Far Left is trying to make people feel entitled to food, clothing, housing, sanctuary, etc. Which means making them angry at people who have those things today, and planting the seed that those people must pay...
It is quite the mess. :-(
"And the Far Left is trying to make people feel entitled to food, clothing, housing, sanctuary, etc."
Imagine believing that people don't have a right to food, clothing, and shelter.
Now also imagine a Christian believing that.
Now also imagine that Christian going to hell.
Moose
Moose,
See... The brainwashing has taken hold already.
You seemingly think robbing Peter to give to Paul is okay...
Approving of Robbery... Shame... :-)
"Imagine believing that people don't have a right to food, clothing, and shelter."
... at the same time believing you have the right to a Twitter account.
I have never understood that strange belief...
I mean I realize that if I piss off google... The home of my blog would go bye bye. :-)
I have the right to say what I want... They also have the right to publish or not publish what they want. :-)
It's not brainwashing, John. It's true Christianity.
Moose
On the topic of "entitlement to food, clothing, and shelter," what are your thoughts on how people will get them as technology continues to eliminate the need for more and more job? Truck drivers are the #1 occupation by volume in a majority of states, but we're more than likely inside a decade from the ability to automate that industry. What do all those truckers do? As factories get more and more automated, what do the factory workers do? The company's that grew and were built on the backs of labor now will be able to reduce that overhead considerably and increase their profits while workers are left behind.
That's why I think we do need a plan for how we'll care for people as we see the number of jobs continue to drop off. I'm a fan of UBI and experiments with it in pockets of Europe seem to be working. That allows people to afford that food, clothing, and shelter at a base level, but still encourages work to better their situation.
Drewbie,
When did you become a socialist... :-)
Maybe instead people should make fewer babies? :-)
Your concerns are valid. BUT taking even more money from investors so "workers" can sit idle does not sit well with me personally.
Moose,
Christianity supports helping the poor and unfortunate via charity, which works pretty good because charities have behavior requirements for many of their programs.
Where as government programs tend to just give... Which encourages entitlement and sloth.
I'm an idealist. I yearn for a future like Star Trek. Everyone has a job and is wanting. Trouble is, I dont see us all unifying as the human race without some catastrophic global threat that forces it. Bring on the little green men I guess.
Sounds like an excellent dream...
Though given human nature Blade Runner is more likely. :-(
