Because of Lies and Fear? It saddens me to acknowledged that many very nice and normally friendly citizens have become fearful and ignorant customers of and purveyors of lies and contempt.
I assume it is no different from when the people feared and hated the incoming Catholics, Irish, Italians, Jews, Orientals, etc... A bunch of bigots took their fear, spread it, and innocent people were harassed, tortured or killed while the bigots claimed their innocence. :-(
Now we have a whole new group of bigots who fear and seek to de-humanize Blacks, Muslims, Hispanics, LGBTQ folks and others who look or belief differently. And when they are harassed, tortured or are killed, the bigots will again claim their innocence. :-(

The political atmosphere right now is fascinating. Republicans want to be mean, but they fearful of violating the rules of Minnesota Nice. Some commercials they run, seem to have been made in deep red states and imported here with the names changed to protect the guilty. People like me, watch them with unease. We didn't used to be the kind of state which has candidates running videos about Jewish bankers pulling strings controlling Jewish elected officials. I like to think we still aren't.
