Typical Trump. He disrupted without thinking about the consequences. Or we are at the first level of the four dimensional chess only he is playing. I don't like gerrymandering. I don't like mid decade redistricting. But for whatever reason, our president is a fan of both. What we are seeing today is the predictable result. Both Democrats and Republicans are gerrymandering states where they are able, the results being mostly a wash, while the interests of representative democracy go unserved.--Hiram
Agreed... Apparently the BIG problem will be if SCOTUS weakens the voter's rights act further. Then the Red states can gerry mander even worse.
We talk a lot about elect ion rigging, but we don't talk much about how to go about it. If I wanted to rig an election, I wouldn't do it through fabrication of ballots. To do that on any significant scale would require a conpiracy of tens or even hundreds of thousands of people. Surely, at some point, one of them would spill the beans. No, what I would do is rig the election publicly in ways that come close to but don't violate laws. Obviously, I would gerrymander districts to the extent that I could. I would change voter laws making it easier for my voters to vote, and harder for the other side's voters to vote, At the end of the process, particularly if I lost, I would search for ways to delay and even undermine the credibility of the certification process.--Hiram
Sounds like Trump and yourself are of a like mind... :-)
What I found striking was that when President Trump actually did try a fabrication of ballot solution in Georgia, he got caught immediately in a way that generated indisputable evidence. The call was taped and it was disclosed by a Republican. These days, millions of Americans have phone capable of recording phone calls, yet only President Trump seem to have been caught using one to steal votes. Doesn't that tell us something?==Hiram
Yep... :-(
