Noem and a Dog

The silly woman thought it would make her seem tough to admit she killed / shot her dog.

Of course she forgot that:

  • MOST people LOVE dogs
  • MOST people are not raised on a farm / ranch
  • MOST people find the dog another better suited home / owner
  • MOST people hire a Vet to euthanize the dog

Now I have shot animals that were very sick or injured.  And I even thought about shooting my geriatic dog while hunting, so they would leave the world happy and not stressed.  But I have never thought of shooting a dog because I had failed to train them.

And for you city folks, it is very hard to break a dog of the desire to chase / kill chickens / sheep, etc once they have done it.  And yes farmers do shoot stray dogs that take up that habit.

This is what happens when we look for our leaders among those who are not elite. They are out of touch with cultural norms, one of which is you don't brag about shooting downs. I had the same thought when Nikki Haley froze on issues of the Civil War. Trump did it the other day in his Gettysburg Wow speech. A lot of these things are things only the elites who read books and watch Ken Burns documentaries know. A senator the other day appeared on TV to say the National Guard should be sent to campuses to quell the demonstrations. I am sure the guy never heard of Kent State. That is an elite thing to know about.
