What Republicans like about tariffs is that they are tax increases but in disguise. They give government more money to spend but in ways that the politicians who support them are not held reponsible. They are free money, and Trump for one seems to revel in them. He loves to talk about the additional revenue, which isn't seen as a tax, and he profligately promises the proceeds as if he were Oprah on steroids. Farmers are getting a check, service people are getting a check, taxpayers are getting a couple of checks, and Trump gets a ballroom to boot.--Hiram
The American way... We are happy as long as we think someone else gets stuck with the bill...
