Biden wants more bailout money and GOP resists.
Even some in the WH thing Biden's plan goes too far.
I mean it goes far beyond just a bailout.
Raising social involvement, self awareness and self improvement topics, because our communities are the sum of our personal beliefs, behaviors, action or inaction. Only "we" can improve our family, work place, school, city, country, etc.

And how to annoy your friends
That bi-partisanship did not last long
It depends how you define "bipartisanship". Biden's plan is very popular among voters -- for instance:
Yahoo: More than two-thirds of Americans side with Biden on COVID relief — and most support the rest of his agenda
The Biden Administration looks poised to flex its muscles to pass policies that people like and people need. That's a far better plan than chasing Republicans around for votes they're never going to give.
As I often say...
"American's are selfish and greedy"
So of course many want "free money / checks" from the government.
All the while forgetting that the money is being borrowed and adding to the debt that will burden our kids and grand kids...
$3 Trillion Last Year + $0.9 Trillion in Dec + $1.9 Trillion
If the folks in the mid 1900's were the greatest generation, we definitely are the most self centered generations.
Remember Pages 6 and 10 spell DOOM...
And many are totally absolutely unaware... :-(
"John disagrees with Biden's proposal" is a completely different argument that "Biden isn't being bipartisan".
I would also argue that Biden hasn't actually committed to "bipartisanship" -- at least in the way that the media has wanted to define it. The inaugural address doesn't use the term at all. Instead, he said things like:
"We can see each other not as adversaries but as neighbors.
We can treat each other with dignity and respect.
We can join forces, stop the shouting, and lower the temperature."
and
"Let us listen to one another.
Hear one another.
See one another.
Show respect to one another.
Politics need not be a raging fire destroying everything in its path.
Every disagreement doesn’t have to be a cause for total war.
And, we must reject a culture in which facts themselves are manipulated and even manufactured."
and
"To all those who did not support us, let me say this: Hear me out as we move forward. Take a measure of me and my heart.
And if you still disagree, so be it.
That’s democracy. That’s America. The right to dissent peaceably, within the guardrails of our Republic, is perhaps our nation’s greatest strength.
Yet hear me clearly: Disagreement must not lead to disunion."
He's not talking about subverting his own agenda to chase "bipartisanship" -- he's talking about resetting our politics in terms of how we go about it and how we disagree with one another.
Sorry... But how would it work out if you told your spouse...
"Let us listen to one another.
Hear one another.
See one another.
Show respect to one another."
And then did whatever you wanted? :-)
Government ain't a marriage.
I would also note again the only folks you are asking to compromise are Democrats. When do Republicans ever have to compromise or be "bipartisan" in Appelen-world?
It was "just politics" to you when McConnell stalled out Merrick Garland. So why can't Democrats do "just politics" when it suits them?
All relationships are about communication and respect. Be they marriage or congress.
I just spent 4 years complaining about the idiots in the GOP and general dysfunction in Washington...
By the way, It looks like Manchin is back screwing up the Progressive plan
How to Influence
I called out McConnell over Amy Comey Barrett, I will call out DEMs now.
And Biden kind of brought this upon himself when he said unity was important to him.
I agree that the DEMs should probably ignore 40 of the GOPers in the Senate... But they should at least try to show a good faith effort in working with 10 of them.
"But they should at least try to show a good faith effort in working with 10 of them."
Joe Biden met with them for two hours yesterday. Even the Republicans said it was a good conversation. But Biden isn't going to do what Obama did and spend months and months trying to get votes that have no chance of happening.
I would assume negotiations that start at 600 Billion and 1900 Billion would end up around 1250 Billion...
It does not seem the DEMs are interested in moving...
