All I can hope is that this bites the Democrats in the butt come election time...  It should make for some great ads...  "Democrats Believe !!!  Teachers First !!!  Students Second !!!"

After thinking about Dayton's comments regarding "denigrate Minnesota's public school teachers", I was wondering how he compares this to his policy that seems to denigrate School Boards, Administrations and Principals.

For some reason he and his peers seem to think that these folks will roll over and fire their effective employees to save some money. It is too bad that he has so little faith in the middle management of the Public Schools.

I thought that was an interesting inconsistency.

I know of a director in a charter school who did not renew contracts of several more highly paid staff to help balance the budget. So it does happen.

Ah... Now was money the only factor?

Or was it a case of their value was less than their cost?

Check out the Tenure Stress link above before answering. Thanks for the comment.

I remember challenged the school board when, in defense of an upcoming levy, they said, "we are losing our best teachers." They were lying out of at least three sides of their mouths at the time, and it now appears there was a fourth.

That is kind of funny since the current law was supposedly protecting them...

Strangely enough though, they may have been telling the truth back then... Many of the most energetic and motivated (ie most to lose) were likely on the chopping block...
