Let the Bush Tax Cuts Lapse

Here is an interesting opinion piece.  CNN Why are tax hikes politically radioactive?

I think Bush's experiment has proved a failure and that the "Bush Tax Cuts" should go away.  At least until we get our National Debt under control.  And yes, budget cuts should continue also.

And if we want the Tax Cuts back sooner, let's start cutting the budget more aggressively.  Just stop the silliness of pocketing the cuts and spending the money...  That is just being selfish and passing the bill to our kids.  Let's show some personal responsibility !!!

Let's pass a national balanced budget amendment !!!  (Wiki BBA)

Tax increases are impossible because Republicans won't vote for them.

No voting required, the train is already headed down those tracks unless someone votes to throw a switch. Tax Foundation: Expiration pending list

Along with Obama's Healthcare related tax increases. FOX News Obamacare Taxes Maybe even the Liberals will want to start cutting the budget.

It seems some analysts believe now is not the right time for drastic tax increases and spending cuts.

How to avoid 'lunatic' fiscal cliff

I think politicians advocating for a one year extension of Bush tax rates indicate some willingness to let these rates expire down the road when (if ) the economy is stronger.

Also I think Obama and the dems have shown greater willingness for spending cuts see budget control act than the GOP has shown for tax increases.

There is never a good time to make hard choices. If there were, they wouldn't be hard choices.

We have been putting this off since we started / entered 2 wars. Let's start paying for the choices we have made.

Besides, for years I have heard the Liberals say that the Rich were the primary beneficiary of the cuts. Maybe they will finally acknowledge that all of us have been saving a lot of money for the past ~10 years.

Romney’s and Obama’s tax plans, in one (new and improved) chart

So we won't be raising taxes (much) and the dems won't agree to huge spending cuts (voters won't approve either) so it seems that trillion $ deficits will be around for a while.

That does seem to be the sad reality. I hope our children will forgive us for our lack of personal responsiblity.

There is little interest on the Republican side for spending cuts either. They want to increase military spending. And they show no show interest in cutting health care spending, at least they didn't before yesterday when Romney lavishly praised Israel's system of socialized medicine.

Seems this is appropriate as usual.

"When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic."

I do love Ben Franklin's quotes... Petrie: BF's Quotes

Here is another winner we seem to have forgotten. "The Constitution only gives people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself." or "There is no kind of dishonesty into which otherwise good people more easily and more frequently fall than that of defrauding the government."

Or this one has to be one of my favorites...

"Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do."
