McConnell Is Excellent

At least when compared to the nut case Trump!!!

So are people going to support an effective GOP or Trump?

Apparently now the National Archives wants a piece of Trump also.

I think of this as the Kiesinger Brandt problem.

In the politics of Nazi Germany, there were two basic political approaches.

On the one hand, there was the approach of Kurt Kiesinger. He was a middle of the road sort of a guy, far from a fanatical Nazi, but someone who at some point wanted a political future after the Nazi's, shall we say, departed the system. So he mostly went along. He joined the party, but he wasn't active. He attended meetings, he avoided doing really awful stuff. He worked to both survive, but also to maintain is political viability. He did survive and became chancellor of West Germany at one point.

Willi Brandt was actively anti Nazi. He lefts the country for Norway, and when the Germans occupied Norway, fled to Sweden. He did abandon his country in it's hour of need. He wasn't "loyal to the brand". Eventually, he returned to Germany and he too became chancellor.

Republicans today are faced with a similar choice. Do they oppose what's going on? Or do they just go along, maybe try to moderate their party, limit their party's worst excesses. I must tell you, watching from the sidelines as many good and decent Republicans wrestle with your consciences, I find the drama compelling. And in all humility, I am glad I am not faced with such choices.

My conscience is pretty well made up...

If Trump endorses someone. It is very unlikely that individual will get my vote.

It is kind of like Jeffrey Dahmer recommending a good place to eat...

I find the lack of self awareness among Republicans to be must watch political viewing. Republicans seem to have convinced themselves that they still have some sort of moral credibility, as if somehow they can still use the elevator comfortably which also is occupied by an 800 pound gorilla who has gone banana-less recently.

Humans are incredibly gifted at rationalizing anything they do or want to do.

For the GOP, saving babies and fighting the spread of LGBTQ / socialism justify all kinds of bad behaviors.

Even supporting a man who was screwing a stripper as his wife and new born baby were sitting at home.
