Mega Corruption

It amazes me that people who were horrified by Pelosi and Hunter Biden's "self dealing" are silent about the Trump Families cons and corruption that is worth Billions?

😮 I mean he accepted a $400 million plane from a foreign country, spent hundreds of millions more in tax dollars improving it and he plans to keep it... If Biden had done that they would have FREAKED... 😮

On a political level, we have had an inversion of views. Things we used to hate are now things we love. Corruption, which used to be frowned upon, is now excused even justified. Nobody cares, as Trump, and his circle have proclaimed, and they are not wrong, as long as many of us get a taste.==Hiram

Though I do agree with you you that many Americans have become incredibly selfish and willing to do bad things as long as it helps them. I mean just look at the US Deficit and Debt...

In this case, I think MAGA and Trump are not sharing with their voters... So those voters may vote for DEMs to get what they think they should have coming... It may not happen though... The Trump voters are really gullible and the DEMs are pretty nuts.

There is no constitue Incy for doing the things that would reduce the deficit or debt. No lobbyist is ever hired to get less money for the entity which hires him. No voter asks to be made less safe, or to have the health care he and his parents and his spouse and his children receive. These are things that aren't even discussed.
We do elect candidates who are on the fringe of these issues, who coupled with a lot of wishful think, might possibly address these issues. President Trump promised to re wduce our commitments abroad. One reason we might do that is that it would reduce defense spending which would help reduce defense spending. But President Trump didn't promise that. And while in office, he has asked for more spending and on things really no one in the military community thinks makes any sense. In a world wear effective drones can be bought at Best Buy, he wants to build battleships that were found to be obsolete in the Battle of Jutland in WW I Yes we do occasionally vote for economically make sense, but the candidates who win refuse to deliver.==Hiram

Years and years ago when we were more fully engaged in the health care debate, people like me were willing to discuss cost cutting measure. Even the most casual observer of health care can see there is a huge amount of waste in health care. But I can tell you we lost those battles in ways that were resounding. For me, those wounds inflicted long ago are still fresh. Remember Socialized Medicine? Death Panels? The Ronald Reagan record you can still listen to on youtube? Remember all those stories about long lines in Canada of people waiting for life saving care? Those arguments convinced us, they even convinced me so we as a nation and voters made the decision not to make cost an issue in health care. We accepted the "waste", which basically turned out to be money spent on someone else. So now, when we complain about things like debts and deficits, we are complaining about the choices we made in the past where we knew what the consequences would be, and would quite frankly, make again.==Hiram

Yes. American citizens became very selfish and short sighted.

We voted for Trump. At least where national security is concerned, he isn't following through on his promises.
I have talked a lot about this, the fundamental restructuring that would need to take place in our country if our goal truly was to balance the budget, and reduce the deficit. There are a number of very specific things we would need to do, and there simply is no interest at all in even entering a discussion about doing them.==Hiram
