School Funding and Accountability

I believe this is what gridlock looks like. I mean the schools lose some more money, the citizen's gain no methods to promote accountability within the schools, we put off the fixing the structural financial problem til "next year", and we all lose any shot at the Race to the Top funding.

In summary, the kids get the burned from all sides...
All of us adults sure are silly and selfish !!!

Here are some links explaining the impact of this Legislative session on MN Schools. Or maybe I should say the "non-impact... Thoughts?

Perhaps if the schools spent more time teaching and less saying they can't teach without more money than Midas, these minor funding adjustments wouldn't be such front page news. We KNOW these schools can educate for less than they are asking for because a few years ago, they were DOING it just fine.(Still complaining, of course, all the while.)

I found one of those cute wood signs in a Northern MN tourist store and keep it over my desk. It says:

QUITCHERBELLYAKIN!

and I added line 2 below it:

DOSUMPTINORFYNDSUMPTINTOLIK!

For those that do not speak license plate speak:

Quit your belly aching!

Do something or find something to like!

The reality of course is that lobbying is doing something. It is just unfortunate that Districts and Ed MN probably spent a couple of million dollars lobbying during the legislative session instead of teaching with the money.

However, per a quote on Parent's United. "Democracy is a participation sport." Or something like that. I suppose those lobbying dollars are just an investment in search of future rewards/funds...
