CNN Paychecks Senate

Rep Ellison is one of the few MN's keeping the check and his rationale is interesting.
"Rep. Keith Ellison (D – 5th District) said he will keep pay. In a statement, he wrote: “If handing back pay would help furloughed workers I would find a way to survive without pay, but of course it won’t. Only allowing a vote on a clean continuing resolution will do that. The focus on Congressional pay is an attempt to draw attention away from the issue.” "Of course this implies their is nothing the Democrats could offer those "anarchists"...
Anyone know what Obama and Biden will do with their checks?

I think the GOP is more morally obligated to not accept their pay during this shutdown, which could end today if JB allowed a vote. If I was a dem in congress I hope I would be financially stable enough to donate my pay to a DC area food shelf or something.
Notice this deceptive and sinister wording? "Only a CLEAN CR will keep the government running." It's an absolutely outrageous lie. The House passed 3 different CRs that would have kept the government running. Since then they have passed several bills funding parts of the government and Senate Democrats have refused to even consider them, preferring to keep the parks closed (even the ones that NEVER close, like the WWII memorial), keep veterans from getting health care, and even prevent kids with cancer from being treated at the NIH. Sure glad those Democrats are looking out for all us little people. :-[
It also must be noted that Republicans passed a complete budget months ago that would have made this CR fight completely unnecessary, but the Senate, as it has EVERY year of Obama's reign, refused to take it up OR offer a budget of their own. How about we just stop the pay of Democrats, whether they like it or not? I mean, if you don't do your job...
I think people who work for a living should get paid.

They weren't clean, as I understand it, and so didn't keep the government running.

Just for the record I also read this blog because another perspective does sometimes alter my views, at least slightly.
Apparently the senate did pass a budget this year. Otherwise the no pay act would have kicked in.
Strangely, no budget no pay just said the President, Senate and House had to pass one. They didn't have to bring them to into alignment though... Darn politicians...
