Here is an interesting opinion piece. My thoughts / questions:
And for a different view WAPO Why DeVos is Wrong
And one more Politico DeVos to Scrap
Thoughts?
- I always wonder why are the schools involved at all?
- Why are the city police not dealing with these issues?
- Why is the Federal government involved in this?
And for a different view WAPO Why DeVos is Wrong
And one more Politico DeVos to Scrap
Thoughts?

Since getting back to school this fall I am very busy. I did not read any of your links. But that does not stop me from having an opinion. I think colleges need to be involved in sexual assault cases because they may have different standards and consequence for student behavior than the criminal justice system. For example, in the U of M football team scandal from a year or two ago the players need to meet a team / student code of conduct that may be higher than the criminal behavior standard of rape. Do not ask me to defend this opinion in any detail, because I did not pay close attention to the details in this case. That said, schools do need to be careful to have good due process procedures and fairness for both the alleged victim and the accused. I have read about cases in which the alleged perpetrator has been treated very unfairly by their university.
Laurie, no offense intended, but sometimes you make real good sense.
