Intolerance Abounds

Horseshoe Theory: Both Sides Want Govt Control

It would be humorous if it was not so divise and polarizing for our country.

Both sides pleading for freedom and tolerance while trying to shackle the other...

On the other hand, most of us don't demand others accept our lifestyle, and most of us couldn't care less about the lifestyle of others.

Do you believe in progressive taxation rates?

I do believe in progressive tax rates. And I go further, I even believe in progressive taxation. In our system, we tax billionaires $759 a year. I believe we should eliminate enough loopholes so they at least pay something in four figures.

To me it seems that you care about the lifestyle of others then... :-)

Which makes you normal like most Americans.

Is paying a ridiculously low amount in taxes a lifestyle?
Is that what Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous was about?

Please remember that even the evil Donald Trump paid way more taxes than you or me...

Not to mention all of the property taxes his business pay... :-O

My point was that Hiram cares a lot about how other people live and he supports using the government take more, give more, etc.

In most recent years, Donald Trump has paid no federal income taxes at all. In a few years, he has paid as much as 750 dollars a year. This hasn't been all that surprising. As a bankrupt, he was able to generate huge losses which he was able to carry forward. He has, in effect, use d the tax code to shift the burden of his incompetence on to us. What surprised me at least a little is how quickly this story faded away. In his election campaigns, Mr. Trump refused to disclose his tax returns, despite earlier promises to provide them, on the grounds that they were subject to audit. That was always a pretty obvious non sequitur. Disclosing his returns would in no way affect that audit, and it turns out that for several years his tax returns weren't audited at all. The question that goes amazing unasked is, "Mr. Trump, did you refuse to disclose you federal tax returns because you wanted to withhold from the public the fact that you paid little or no federal income tax despite being a billionaire?"

He also paid $1+ million 1 year...

I do know that if I wanted to cut social security, first I would support a bill that requires billionaires be taxed at least a million dollars at least once a century.

It seems this was a false statement...

I don't think insisting that billionaires pay more than 750 dollars a year in federal income tax will materially change their lifestyle.

You want them to pay a LOT more than $750...

"I do believe in progressive tax rates. And I go further, I even believe in progressive taxation."

And that's fine and maybe even logical. But it is a desire to treat others differently due to their situation, lifestyle, etc.
