Frauded Gone Wild

I agree that the MN officials FAILED with regard to stopping the fraud, but just a reminder that they were not alone. Trump signed the CARES Acts in 2020 and rushed the money to MANY fraudulent folks. He also FAILED.

I don't know how to respond to the fraud issue. The leaders of my party are silent on the issue, maybe hoping it will go away. Governor Walz thinks the fraud issue will not utterly and completely consume his candidacy, something that is a mystery to me. Minnesota Democrats are desperate to make Republican corruption the central issue in next year's campaign, something they cannot do as long as Governor Walz persists in his delusion that he is a viable candidate for reelection.==Hiram

I was very disappointed that he did this... :-( Usually I like and support him.

Each party has a challenge next year. The Republicans want to campaign on DFL fraud without distancing themselves from Trump. Democrats want to make Trump and his corruption the issue, but that's hard to do without distancing themselves from Walz. For me the solution is pretty simple. I think Walz should not run, and if he does run, I think the DFL should dump him. But my beloved party is notoriously averse to making tough decisions, so at the moment, it's likely we will be stuck with a Walz candidacy. For me, this is our post January 6th moment. After the insurrection, Republicans had the chance to end Trump's political future. They didn't do it, to their shame. With regard to Walz, we have a similar choice. Will we do the right thing?==Hiram

Who do you think should be the DEMs candidate?

I don't think Walz should run and I don't think he can. He is deluding himself right now. I think Amy Klobuchar is one possible candidate. Tina Smith possibly. I do think Walz will come to his senses and bow out, and that Peggy Flanagan could shift from the senate race and run for governor. I have no favorites of my own, Someone who is distant from the scandals. I think the DFL has some housecleaning to do. Just too many unforced errors from the current leadership.--HIram

Out of the people mentioned as possible dem candidates for gov. my favorite is Tina Smith. We need someone removed from the fraud scandal and also the Dems high level of spending the last year or two. I don't think she will do it. Amy would be good , too, if she wants a change of pace from the Senate. I think being gov would be better than being a senator.-------Laurie

That is quite a wish list... I can not wait to see what happens...

There is no shortage of Minnesota Democrats who see themselves as governor. I have never been a supporter of term limits, but I like the tradition of governors serving only two terms. Apart from everything else, it's time for someone new.--Hiram
