If Cheney runs for president, I wonder how the Republican Party will handle it. To start with, if Trump announces, will the Republican Party take a neutral position, or will it back Trump at the outset? What will it de if others run? Will it hold or allow debates? Will it try to keep some or all other candidates of the primary ballot? What is going on behind the scenes now? Are obvious candidates like Pence and DeSanits being pressured not to run if Trump does?
What happens if support for Trump collapses? Who would emerge as the new leaders of the GOP? Trump supporters? Trump supporters? Or those who were able to support Trump while also maintaining a distance from him?

I read an article that made the case that if Cheney ran, it all but guarantees a Trump reelection. That scares me. Cheney running does nothing to pull Trump true believers back into sane, rational thought, but does pull those typical Republican voters that couldn't bring themselves to vote for Trump back away from Biden, and likely pulls in some conservative Dems that aren't keen on Biden at all.
But maybe the moderates could win? :-)
