Ship Them to Sanctuary Cities

I kind of agree with the TX Governor.  If certain states and cities are against deporting people who are in the USA without the proper paperwork, then I guess it does make sense to send all of those folks to those states and cities.

And apparently the Washington DC mayor asked for Federal help...

Asylum Case Numbers

Republicans are at their most Republican when they ship a problem off for someone else to deal with.

However in this case it is a Democrat supported problem...

So why shouldn't the GOPers ship the "problems" to the DEM's districts?

Your own link shows that about two-thirds of the asylum backlog dates to the Trump administration. Not sure how that can be blamed on Democrats, but great try at deflection.

As long as the DEMs support letting people in until their Asylum case is handled...

And as long as the DEMs fight against supporting ICE and the deportations...

They are encouraging folks to line up at or to run across the border.

As the "post Trump" apprehension numbers clearly show.

So as I said, if the DEMs in Blue districts want to let people cross the border...

They should be happy to have them move into their districts.

That's literally the law!

And, lest you forget, any attempts at comprehensive immigration reform in recent years have been blown up by Republicans, not Democrats.

"And as long as the DEMs fight against supporting ICE and the deportations.."

In the Obama administration, border patrol spending increased by 60% and over 3,000 ICE, CBP, and Border Patrol employees were added. During the Trump administration, it border patrol spending only increased by 15% and he added less than half the number of employees as under Obama.

Republicans are more interested in talking points than solutions.

The law leaves wiggle room for asylum seekers to stay in a safe third country.

The only solution I have heard from the DEMs is to keep letting them in when they show up.

They certainly have not supported giving priority to the professions that we need in the country.

And yes Obama took quite a hit from his party for deporting so many people.

The "sanctuary cities / districts" are NOT in the RED areas. So as I said... Send them to the Blue areas if they want them. Why are you against this simple logic?

Don't you want them all moving to Carver county?

You fundamentally misunderstand what a sanctuary city is.

Dictionary
Sanctuary City "(in North America) a city whose municipal laws tend to protect undocumented immigrants from deportation or prosecution, despite federal immigration law.
"mayors in those cities reaffirmed their status as sanctuary cities"

Wiki
"Sanctuary city (French: ville sanctuaire; Spanish: ciudad santuario) refers to municipal jurisdictions, typically in North America, that limit their cooperation with the national government's effort to enforce immigration law."

I still think we should bus them all to Carver county. :-)
