Defense Makes Case for More Witness Testimony

If there were boxes in this process, Trump and his attorneys would be in one. If a defendant is going to mount an affirmative defense, even in a criminal trial where the other side bears the burden of proof, he must provide evidence of it. The defendant isn't allowed to just make stuff up. But Trump's attorneys have taken the position that they can make unsupported claims contradicting the House's case without providing any evidence for them at all, something the senate majority seems willing to go along with.

The senate majority is under intense pressure here. They know evidence of Trump's guilt is out there, waiting to break, and they want to acquit the president before the evidence becomes overwhelming. It's a rather unique problem in our history and I am glad it's one that guys on my side don't have to solve.
