Trump, Carrier, Employees and Attacking

How does this guy have any credibility?  He brags up the 1,100 jobs will not be moving and hints that Carrier will not be using the Mexican Plant.(ie sell it)  Neither being true... Amazing...

And instead of apologizing he goes after the Union guy..  Amazing...

I pay next to no attention to anything Trump says. It's almost all lies, deliberately or because he doesn't remember what he said previously or know what he will say the next time he comments on an issue. Trump has pretty much zero credibility with me.

Well I am starting to agree with you. I wonder if it will ever start to weaken his popularity or ability to get things done.

I suppose if he gets results for American workers... Most people won't care.

Because people understand instinctively, that Donald has no interest in telling the truth. He has never been bound by the conventions of truthfulness. He simply doesn't use language in that way. I think people believe because Donald made himself rich, he can make them rich or at least better off. And also, they wanted something different.

Hint: he didn't have any credibility before the election, either. But you voted for him anyway.

Donald isn't about credibility, he is about power. In business, he has always used his economic power to get what he wants, and that's something people understand about him. They think that in office, he will use the power available to him for their benefit. Donald is a Terminator type politician, a guy who, people think, will sweep away everything in his path to achieve his goals. It's a powerful political model, one that got Arnold Scharwzenegger elected governor of California twice.

Remember the Melian dialogue. Things like truthfulness, and fairness only matter between parties who are equal in power. When parties are unequal in power, the stronger do what they want and the weaker bear what they must. This is the principle which is going to guide America going forward.

Sean,
This is much more exciting and may have far more upsides than down.

I mean we could have been discussing Hillary's next tax and spend plans.

unrelated link about your future president that pissed me off and would make me think less of Trump if that was possible. Would you like one of your daughters set up for attack by the social media trolls?

I don't think I would let him know my name...

But I agree with you that this is a problem. I mean the Carrier Union Lead received death threats after calling Trump a liar.

And some Trump electors have also received death threats. What's the matter with these people? Is it the anonymity the Internet offers? I often marvel at the things we say to one another that, face to face, we wouldn't allow ourselves to say. When I used to moderate an online forum, I always looked twice at any posting with the word "you" in it.
