I would say that all of these statement are incredibly incorrect.

There are problems in the world of course, but in terms of mess, the country is in far better shape now than when President Obama took office. And the people whom Trump is putting in positions of power were some of the folks who were responsible for the near destruction of our economy and our country.
I sometimes wonder if I am the only who remembers what this country was like 8 years ago.

Probably, since we all remember things differently and it often varies based on who we are and how the events impacted us personally.
Other than watching my net worth drop due to the stock market and housing crash, the "great recession" was a non-event for my family. (ie just another bubble popping) Where as for many it was a very stressful time.

Donald does have his problems. He is the first American president to no American wants his children to grow up to be like. But in terms of mental illness, we might have to accept that he just might be sort of a jerk.
During the Bush years, liberals were often accused of Bush Derangement Syndrome, a condition suggesting that disagreeing with Bush was a form of mental illness. Then and now, I thought that was a tactic used by Bush supporters to avoid dealing with substantive criticism. During the Obama years, I resolved never to attribute opposition to his policies to mental illness. Quite obviously, Trump is going to test my resolve in this respect. He does act weird a lot. But I am determined to believe that that's just because he is weird.
