Kim Jong Trump?

Stages a Photo Op to show strength? WAPO

Barr Orders Protesters Moved FOX News

Apparently he did not make friends with the Episcopalian Bishop or the Catholic Arch Bishop.
"Just before he arrived, the Catholic Archbishop of Washington, Wilton D. Gregory, the nation's most senior African American bishop, issued a blistering statement along the same lines as his Episcopal counterpart, saying the Shrine, which he does not oversee, was also being "misused" by Trump.
"I find it baffling and reprehensible that any Catholic facility would allow itself to be so egregiously misused and manipulated in a fashion that violates our religious principles, which call us to defend the rights of all people even those with whom we might disagree," Gregory said.
"Saint Pope John Paul II was an ardent defender of the rights and dignity of human beings. His legacy bears vivid witness to that truth. He certainly would not condone the use of tear gas and other deterrents to silence, scatter or intimidate them for a photo opportunity in front of a place of worship and peace," he said."
GOP Senators support Trump's Photo Op and the clearing of the protesters. CNN

It is pretty surreal seeing this happen in the USA, however I assume he was so embarrassed at being moved to hide in a bunker that he needed to pose for the pictures to look "strong".

Maybe he learned from Kim Jong Un ?
Lots of Security = Tough / Brave?

""Why do liberals think Trump supporters are stupid?"
The following is by Florida writer Adam-Troy Castro, shared by a friend on FB:

'An anguished question from a Trump supporter: "Why do liberals think Trump supporters are stupid?"

The serious answer: Here’s what we really think about Trump supporters - the rich, the poor, the malignant and the innocently well-meaning, the ones who think and the ones who don't...

That when you saw a man who had owned a fraudulent University, intent on scamming poor people, you thought "Fine."

That when you saw a man who had made it his business practice to stiff his creditors, you said, "Okay."

That when you heard him proudly brag about his own history of sexual abuse, you said, "No problem."

That when he made up stories about seeing muslim-Americans in the thousands cheering the destruction of the World Trade Center, you said, "Not an issue."

That when you saw him brag that he could shoot a man on Fifth Avenue and you wouldn't care, you chirped, "He sure knows me."

That when you heard him illustrate his own character by telling that cute story about the elderly guest bleeding on the floor at his country club, the story about how he turned his back and how it was all an imposition on him, you said, "That's cool!"

That when you saw him mock the disabled, you thought it was the funniest thing you ever saw.

That when you heard him brag that he doesn't read books, you said, "Well, who has time?"

That when the Central Park Five were compensated as innocent men convicted of a crime they didn't commit, and he angrily said that they should still be in prison, you said, "That makes sense."

That when you heard him tell his supporters to beat up protesters and that he would hire attorneys, you thought, "Yes!"

That when you heard him tell one rally to confiscate a man's coat before throwing him out into the freezing cold, you said, "What a great guy!"

That you have watched the parade of neo-Nazis and white supremacists with whom he curries favor, while refusing to condemn outright Nazis, and you have said, "Thumbs up!"

That you hear him unable to talk to foreign dignitaries without insulting their countries and demanding that they praise his electoral win, you said, "That's the way I want my President to be."

That you have watched him remove expertise from all layers of government in favor of people who make money off of eliminating protections in the industries they're supposed to be regulating and you have said, "What a genius!"

That you have heard him continue to profit from his businesses, in part by leveraging his position as President, to the point of overcharging the Secret Service for space in the properties he owns, and you have said, "That's smart!"

"That you have heard him say that it was difficult to help Puerto Rico because it was the middle of water and you have said, "That makes sense."

That you have seen him start fights with every country from Canada to New Zealand while praising Russia and quote, "falling in love" with the dictator of North Korea, and you have said, "That's statesmanship!"

That Trump separated children from their families and put them in cages, managed to lose track of 1500 kids. has opened a tent city incarceration camp in the desert in Texas - he explains that they’re just “animals” - and you say, “well, ok then.”

That you have witnessed all the thousand and one other manifestations of corruption and low moral character and outright animalistic rudeness and contempt for you, the working American voter, and you still show up grinning and wearing your MAGA hats and threatening to beat up anybody who says otherwise.

What you don't get, Trump supporters in 2019, is that succumbing to frustration and thinking of you as stupid may be wrong and unhelpful, but it's also...hear me...charitable.

Because if you're NOT stupid, we must turn to other explanations, and most of them are less flattering.'"

That was pretty hilarious...

It reminds me of the Trump Supporter Stages of Denial

1. He didn't say that.
2. And if he did, he didn't mean that.
3. And if he did, you didn't understand it.
4. And if you did, it's not a big deal.
5. And if it is, others have said worse."

I often wonder if the Trump True Believers ever imagined that they would be actively and passionately supporting a politician who says such outrageous lies?

I keep asking them to discuss one of the above and they keep avoiding doing so. So they must know that he is blatantly lying to their face and yet they are okay with it...

It is so strange...

Some of the classics...

"“Twitter is completely stifling FREE SPEECH” by adding a fact-check label to Trump’s tweet."

"There are “many unanswered and obvious questions” about the 2001 death of a staff member of Joe Scarborough."

"“Rogue” Michigan official sent absentee ballots to 7.7 million people “illegally and without authorization” ahead of the primaries and general election."

"“We’ve tested more than every country combined.”"

Tear Gas or No?

I guess I have a hard time trusting anything coming from the Trump Administration... :-(

I will stick with trusting the videos and evidence found.

He is beginning to get the coverage a dictator gets. Filmed in staged settings or from a distance. Look for him to be seen driving a tractor.

"Why do liberals think Trump supporters are stupid?"

I think people who support Trump, do it because they want Republican judges and lower taxes. I don't think they are stupid about this because they are right, he has given them those things, and they will for out last his presidency.

I think it's stupid to believe Trump's lies, but I don't Trump supporters in the main, do that. They aren't stupid in that sense.

"Stupidity" as a charge is almost always a form of deflection. Along with charges of "X Derangement Syndrome" it's used as a way of substantive debate. Interestingly, it goes both ways. You do have people say "You are stupid, therefore I don't have to respond to your substance." But we also have, "You think I am stupid and therefore you won't respond to the substantive point I would make so why should I bother making to them to you?" In both cases, the end result is the same, substance is avoided.

I don't think Trump supporters are stupid, I know many of them and they are smart people.

That is why I find this "cult of personality" so fascinating and disturbing.

We have a HUGE group of people who are enthralled by a guy who lives up to ZERO of their normal expectations for a politician / human and yet they will sacrifice friend and family relations to defend his actions.

Not comparing Trump to Hitler, but I can see how he rose to power. Citizens of a country can get really scary when something deep inside them is touched by a public figure.

I am hoping that their are enough rational Republicans like George Will, Gen Mattis, Sen Romney, etc that Trump will be a 1 term President.

I don't really believe that people are enthralled by Trump as opposed to be in on the joke Trump is. For them, Trump is a pointy shaped object they use to stick liberals with while federal judges are being elsewhere confirmed. People aren't stupid but a lot of them are really cynical.

I see a lot of similarities between Trump and Hitler. Hitler was a make Germany greater candidate, a guy who campaigned on returning Germany to it's former pre-war glory. Hitler blamed the other for all the ills.

The other night I watched a documentary on Hitler's life. It had several long scenes from his rallies. It showed how he worked the crowd. I have to say, I saw a lot of similarities with Trump's rallies. Usually when we see clips of Hitler addressing crowds, they are brief, and often without translation, so you get less than a complete picture of what's going on.

By the way, this is not to say I don't hear incredibly stupid arguments of a kind that make me really wonder about what people are thinking. Often they involve a claim of link between unrelated things. Global warming is wrong because Al Gore flies in jets. How could people possibly buy that? Lately, we have been hearing another, possibly even more amazing version of that. Is wearing a mask necessary when demonstrators don't obey social distancing rules? Just only slightly spruced up, I have been hearing that argument a lot lately. It's as if stupidity involved an element of ingenuity.

That is probably what frustrates me the most...

When people make arguments / claims that make NO sense. :-)

I am often bugged by claims, usually made by lawyers who are paid to say certain things, that there is no evidence of something or other. There is always evidence of something or other. It's almost always the case that there is evidence of things that are not true.
