More Fun at SCOTUS

Roberts tried to take the Supreme Court out of the election. The problem is that this isn't one sided. The courts just aren't that much of a priority for liberals, so by removing the courts from the election, Roberts isn't affecting them. But for conservatives, courts are absolutely essential. Roberts' decisions only serve to remind them of that and of the importance from their perspective of putting more conservatives on the court.

I think Roberts is just ruling, while honoring precedent.

By bringing the same case in just a short period of time, the pro life forces were testing the court's cynicism. Roberts just wasn't willing to go quite as far as the minority members in his willing to betray legal principles. Perhaps he was also offended by the laziness and the contempt for the court generally of people who would bring the same case twice.

I don't have any doubt that after the election, should the makeup of the court stay for the same, Roe v. Wade will either be overturned, wither outright, or in a way to make it meaningless.

Roberts understands that the court is on borrowed time, that sooner of later the other two branches will just take the position that it's rulings are advisory only, and will not be enforced. It's something his allies on the court show no signs of understanding now.
