It was clearly the right decision. The fact that both Kennedy and Roberts signed on to it gives it additional credibility.
I do agree with your assessment.
It is odd that they in essence ignored the wording and focused on guessing the intent. I guess that is why they are justices and not policemen.
And it would be somewhat silly if the equivalent of a typo undid a 2000 page law.

Intent is everything in the criminal justice system.

Scotus = criminal justice ?
Slightly different issue, I was out at the farm yesterday and apparently folks are complaining about how much ACA increased their premiums. These are ~50+ year old empty nesters...
I assume it is because they are helping to pay for kids up to 26 years old, people with pre-existing conditions, plans with benefits they did not want, etc. Apparently some of them are finding it more cost effective to just pay the tax penalty for now.

Sure. Republicans often talk about how their mostly imaginary plan would reduce costs. Sen. Barrasso, a senator who also happens to be a doctor, combining two of the worst policy world, discussed this in the Wall Street Journal the other day. But it's mostly the case, that GOP cost reductions are paid for with coverage reductions. Less care costs less. In this case, if those 25 year olds have a health care problem, instead of allocating that to an insurance pool which they pay into, why not just dump the cost on the state, i.e. the rest of us?
Health costs are like water. When you press down on it, it doesn't reduce in volume it just flows in a different direction, often one that is damaging and uncontrollable.

They didn't ignore the wording. The law clearly states that if a state doesn't create an exchange than the federal government creates the legal equivalent.

Until they get sick. They could have a rough year until they're able to buy back in.

These are folks who did have health insurance before ACA and now they find it to be too expensive and are willing to take that risk. I hope they stay healthy, they are nice folks.
