Questionable Priorities

This is pretty humorous and sad.  The religious right definitely seems more concerned about LGBTQ issues in school than they are about children being murdered in school. 😮  It sure is a good thing the folks in FL and TX are banning the books and discussions regarding sexuality, while not keeping kids safe... 🙁

Trump Rethinks Jan 6th Commission

Participation. Really, now he thinks the GOP should have had representatives on the committee.  Maybe he finally remembered the old saying.  "If you do not have a seat at the table...  You may be what is on the menu."

Maybe Trump will get to have his say if they choose to indict him at some time.  I very much appreciated Bill Barr not cherry coating his statements.  Here is a video of it.

"And the statements were made very conclusory like this — these machines were designed to, you know, engage in fraud or something to that effect, but I didn't see any supporting information for it. And I was somewhat demoralized because I thought, boy, if he really believes this stuff he has, you know, lost contact with — with it — he's become detached from reality if he really believes this stuff.

On the other hand, you know, when I went into this and would, you know, tell him how crazy some of these allegations were. There was never — there was never an indication of interest in what the actual facts were. And my opinion then and my opinion now is that the election was not stolen by fraud and I haven't seen anything since the election that changes my mind on that, including the 2,000 Mules movie."

Thoughts at the Gas Pump

I stopped in Granite Falls to put gas in my F150 Crew Cab with the 3.5L dual turbo eco-boost engine.  I was happy to be getting around 23 to 24 mpg highway.  I was heading out to help Mom and Dad clean more storm damage at their Lake Home... (just branches down this time)

When the pump shut off at $150, I several different thought, questions and emotions.

I was thankful that I left my boat at home, since the truck's mpg drops significantly when pulling an extra 4,000 Lbs.  Not to mention that the boat also has a 32 gallon gas tank. 😮

Should I be happy or frustrated that my Mastercard shut the pimp off before the tank was full? 😮

Thankful that paying an extra $200 per month in gas bills means little to my household budget. 🙂

Empathy for those folks who are not so fortunate. 🙁

Gas Prices Over Time

No It Is Not Biden's Fault.  Even though Conservatives seem to want deny the real root causes for political reasons.  I mean Biden trying to protect some wild life areas while working to wean us off fossil fuels did not help... But let's get real, its impact is miniscule. New leases would not have been productively pumping for years.  And the Canadians can refine their own oil if it makes sense, no need to pump it to Texas.

Here is an article regarding one of the key constraints...  Apparently Refinery capacity has been falling over the last few years.  And it is unlikely that anyone is going to build new refineries as battery powered vehicles continue to grow in popularity.

Jan 6 Denial :-(

Led by FOX News. And swallowed hook, line and sinker by the Trump cult members.

I truly wish I could understand how the Republican voters went from supporting ethical, religious and truthful people like Bush, McCain and Romney. To supporting a philandering, lying, self serving narcissist like Trump.

The truths are:

  • Trump lost by 7.5 million votes and 4 states.
  • Every state and the Congress approved the results.
  • Trump the sore loser still denies he lost.
  • And he puts his ego above the good of the country.
  • The result of his actions caused hundreds of police to be injured and our Capitol to be breached and occupied.
  • We as citizens should be appalled by this and interested in understanding the details of what happened.
  • And how we as a country will prevent it from happening again.

Unfortunately a sizable portion of our citizens are okay with sore losers denying the results and violent protestors storming our Capitol. Which is so sad and disappointing for this life long Republican.

Appreciating What You Have

Sorry for the delay in posting.  The Mrs and I took a vacation to the Boston, Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, New Port area.

I just saw this cartoon and it seemed a good reminder. :-)

Investment Reminder

10 Rules for Investors

Since I think this is a Bear market, and no GOP politicians are going to sign on to bail it out...  I mean they simply won't do anything if it might make Biden look good...  So down we go...

Rule 8.2 is very helpful when I think the up swings may be a recovery...
