David Brooks mentioned on the PBS News hour tonight that he has been talking to Trump supporters who he thinks are totally unprepared for the high likelihood that Trump will lose the Presidency.
Apparently the Trump Supporters are under that delusion that there are many Trump Supporters who have been lying to the pollsters, and that he really is not as unpopular as everyone reports.
It is strange how confident they are in this bad bet. Of course they trust what Trump says, so I guess they are somewhat delusional.
Now what will they do if Trump loses and pops their delusion?

My guess is that if Trump loses in an election that is not particularly close, the Republican Party will pull the plug on him. There won't be the money there for extensive recounts or litigation.
Trump himself, won't go away easily. If he concedes, the first thing he will do is declare his candidacy for the Republican nomination in 2024. He will still tweet, still hold rallies, still be a problem for Republicans.
I don't expect Trumpism to disappear in my lifetime. His children will all run for president at some point, and will continue to be a factor in Republican presidential politics.

Or are the Liberals being delusional. Is it it possible that the top pollsters in the USA did not learn and adjust after their failure in 2016?
And you really need to read the comments. They are interesting...

Hiram,
I am not certain what the GOP will do?
Until the "people of OZ" recognize Trump for a charlatan, the GOP party is pretty much screwed...
The big question is what will FOX news and the Far Right media do?
I mean tens of millions of normally moral and upstanding citizens have somehow been entranced by these pied pipers... Not sure what will break the spell?
Can the GOP become the party of Romney and other morally grounded politicians?
Or is it has it sold itself to the extremist liars?
The same for the DEMs... Will they show balanced rational leadership, or will they break hard left?
I am not certain what the GOP will do?
I think that question contains, if not multitudes, at least several questions. The Republican establishment would like Trump and Trumpism to go away. Already, they are edging away from him. They will want to return to business as normal, and focus on recouping their losses in two years, comforted by the knowledge that Republican courts will proetect their interests in the interim, while enbling their victory in 2022.
But will Donald Trump allow that to happen?Di
L. FRank Baum wrote a lot of Oz books after Wizard, and I haven't read any of them. I wondered what happened in them. Did the Wizard return from Kansas and tell the electorate that Dorothy was really in league with the Wictch and that he had the emails to prove it. Would the demonstrably credulous Oz electorate, buy his con once again?

I do not understand it, however many voters "LOVE' Trump...
Will they "LOVE" him less when they think he is "ROBBED" of the Presidency?
This is the emotional irrational stuff that I rarely understand.
Will they "LOVE" him less when they think he is "ROBBED" of the Presidency?
I do think they will stick with him, and that will be a continuing problem for Republicans. Trump is the emobodiment of the dark side of our culture and our nation that many of us would like to pretend is not there. Republicans would, I know. He is like Darth Vader without the humanity.

I must have missed when he built a death star and blew up a planet.
To me he is much more like most politicians but without the professionalism and tact.
He is power hungry and self oriented...
