I do wonder if the Feeding our Future defendants would have had an easier time of it in federal court, if one of them had been the guy who nominated the presiding judge to the bench. I have also wondered if the judge would have treated the defendants differently, if he or she thought that one day, one of these defendants would be the one who decides whether the judge gets promoted or not.
I have actually proposed that we should have a constitutional amendment barring the promotion of federal judges from appointment to higher judicial positions. I also think that instead of lifetime appointments, federeal judges should be limited to nonrenewable two year terms.

I firmly believe that someone who wants a job with absolute power, lifetime tenure, and summers off is exactly the wrong person to put on the Supreme Court.
