I was even dumb enough to vote for Trump in 2016, since I hoped the office would make him a better person. Unfortunately I learned quickly that he could not grow into the position, and that he was capable of making rational GOPers believe conspiracy theories and lies...
On the upside, I live in MN so my POTUS vote rarely makes a difference. So I can blame other people for Trump's HUGE Deficits and stoking contempt, distrust and hate !!!

I don't think your chart that shows the left has moved just as far from the center as the right has moved is accurate. In the last 10 years the GOP has changed tremendously, while I think the Dems have changed only slightly. Biden and Congress did pass some liberal bills, so they have moved at least a little bit but they have not gone off the deep end.

The Senate does a pretty good job of moderating the extremes. Hopefully that happens over the next 2 years.
Yes. MAGA is a whole nother level of crazy. It drives me crazy how folks like my parent's seem brain washed into believing blatant lies. :-(
