Fascism in USA

I am assuming this is what a Nationalist Fascist government would do.

😮 I sure hope the States and Courts can prevent voter interference. Imagine if a DEM President sent the military into Red States to "secure" the elections... 😮 Maybe Trump and Hegseth are setting a precedent...

I try to understand arguments and ideas I disagree with. I try very hard to respect those who make them and hold them. Buts something that is beyond my comprehension how anyone could take Trump seriously on election security and integrity issues. No president in our history worked to overturn the results of a lawful and fair election. No president, no politician really, has ever been caught so definitively trying to cheat. I mean we have the tapes. This in an area where the constitution made definitively clear a president should have no role at all for reasons that were as clear and pretty much the same in the 18th century as they are today. The president is simply wrong on these issues, and yet somehow not universally laughed at.==Hiram

My Father is a highly educated, and a Trump supporter... He still believes that something funny happened in 2020... It quite simply is a cult...

What was funny or rather disturbing happened in plain sight for all to see. President visibly tried to interfere with an election. If I wanted to interfere with an election, I wouldn't do it on a grass roots level, that is, on a vote counting level. An obvious reason for that is what actually occurred. President Trump asked Raffensberger to produce 11,000 votes and got caught immediately, on tape. Surely, on a nationwide level, if anyone tried to do that, there would be tens of thousands of cases of evidence proving definitively that such an attempt at cheating had occurred. Instead, there isn't one such case other than from Trump, in a nation of three hundred million==hiram

It is often said that democracy will be in trouble when voters realize they can vote themselves money. I was always sort of skeptical about that. I think voting oneself affordable health care is qualitatively and morally different from voting oneself cash. But I guess these days, my oh so subtle distinction is being lost as our president is literally paying for votes, and offering 5000 payments to each and every one of use, if we elect the candidates he favors.==Hiram

I my view Healthcare equals money... Assuming some is getting paid to provide the service.

I view money and what it buys as ver y different things. You can't eat money, for example, but you can eat the carrots you can exchange for it. It's a spectrum, of course. Many people confuse stocks with money. The question is asked when stock go down, "Where did my money go?" Well, you r money went to the guy you bought the stock from. Health care and money are very different. When health care is at issue, money is no object, we lose our sense of value about it. This is a huge part of what makes health care policy so different, and so difficult.--Hiram

People think of making money as the same thing, or maybe a mirror image, as spending money. If you think about this, I don't think this makes sense at all. The things we do to make money are entirely different from the things we do in spending money. The two are entirely different, and often don't have much to do with each other.==Hiram

The reason that money is no object when it comes to healthcare is because the person is often spending "someone else's money"... Be it the tax payers, the insurance companies or the hospitals....

If a person had to pay their cash prior to having a procedure or test done, it would certainly be an issue... Should we buy Grandpa a can our have his hip replaced? Should we spend a million dollars to buy Grandpa cancer treatment or take him on a nice vacation for $20,000?

You can say they are different... But when push comes to shove it is all about money.

I disagree. The reason why there is no limit on health care costs is that people will spend anything to save the lives of themselves and the lives of the members of their families. When shove comes to push, it's all about the lives of our loved ones.===Hiram

Ahhhh... But they can not spend cash they do not have...

Our system let's many put it on a tab... Someone else's money...

It's why they have insurance. But health insurance is different from other kinds of insurance. With car insurance, the liability is limited. There is only so much people are willing to spend on a car before it's declared totaled. Car insurance is for specific period of time. The nature of the risk is well understood. There are no new kinds of car accidents. The risks of health insurance are unlimited. And then there is the "we are not evil" factor. Health care is not allocated on ability to pay. People are not allowed to die on curbs outside hospitals. So that's an additional cost. Do we plan for it which means insuring against it? Or do we simply allow the burden to fall whereever it lands. That means the burden will go away, it will simply cost more.==Hiram

Of course we let people die if they can not or will not pay... Otherwise the liberals would not spend so much time and energy pushing for universal healthcare with no limits...

Thankfully I and my employer pay for very good insurance, but even it has limits.
