I still don't understand how people who want to stop government waste and drain the swamp can support Trump as he gets rid of people who investigate him and his cronies? :-( I guess "their" waste and abuse of power is okay?

Because a lot of our government depends on voluntary compliance with norms. But now, what is demonstrated is that political power isn't based on things like "consent of the governed", it's based on force. And once that choice is made, there is no going back.
