Elizabeth Warren: Not Anarchists

Look I found some more new friends !!!  And some of them sound like the MPP folks.

Thoughts regarding Liz's speech?

You seem to have missed the main idea again. I don't think your talking points are persuading anyone of your ideas or winning you any new readers.
I suggest a less know it all voice to your writing might be more persuasive.

Thanks for the feedback. Actually today was the highest number of hits ever for G2A... However I always appreciate your candor.

So what did you perceive as the main idea of her speech? She kind of lost me at "completely unnecessary, completely avoidable Republican shutdown". I am really getting tired of the endless rock throwing by both sides.

I helped my youngest analyze the comic for social studies this evening. I found it very amusing and accurate... Non-Essential Employee Comic

Upon your recommendation I will take some time now to read the whole speech. I hope it isn't a bunch more mud slinging.

Okay I read the whole thing and she fit plenty of bashing and accusations in. I found this quote very interesting though.

"It’s not complicated. Our government has three basic functions: Provide for the national defense, put in place rules of the road – like speed limits and bank regulations that are fair and transparent, and build the things together that none of us can build alone – roads, power grids, schools – the things that give everyone a chance to succeed.

We are a nation of innovators and entrepreneurs, growing small businesses and thriving big businesses. But our people succeed – our country succeeds – because we have all come together to put public institutions and infrastructure together."

She actually sounds like a Republican there, because that is what us Conservatives truly want the Government to do.

Where in these 3 basic goals does the Democrat's massive wealth transfer efforts fit in? Thoughts?

So are the Republicans anarchists or are they heroes fighting to limit government to its 3 basic roles? I think that is where we disagree.

I have never heard a Republican say they want to get rid of the government. However look at the right side of this pie chart.

It seems to me we have way exceeded the basic 3... Thoughts?

It's the Republicans who don't sound like Republicans anymore.

I think they are nihilists, out to destroy America.

Hiram agrees with Liz Warren, and they're both wrong. Hiram at least has reasons for his belief. Warren has only her rabid looney-tunes talking points.

She is right about one thing. The 17% shutdown is "completely unnecessary." If the Senate had simply agreed with the House on any of the many bills they passed to keep the government open, it would be open right now. In fact, if it wasn't for Obama trying to make this shutdown as painful as possible, we might not even notice. THAT is the "unnecessary" part.

I thought the "delay of bereavement benefits" was the worst. It occured after the Pentagon had agreed to bring their civilian employees back.

Read your conversations with the leftist hoard on MinnPost, John.

You remind me of me 15 years ago, before I realized that lefty rhetoric isn't just a big satirical joke; they really believe that stuff. Further, as you've seen, when you put the proof of their folly right under their noses, they circle the wagons.

In short, I've concluded that liberalism is indeed a chronic mental defect.

I no longer try and reason with leftists, I mock them for bufoons in conversations and work like hell to crush them at the polls.

I enjoy your dedication to clear thinking and factual presentations; keep up the good work.

about "completely unnecessary, completely avoidable Republican shutdown"." this is rock throwing? "unnecessary" is opinion, "avoidable" and "republican" to describe the shutdown seem like facts to me.

and republicans talk all the time about getting rid of most of govt, not just your despised safety net programs. Here is an example my quick search turned up:

GOP Congresswoman And Fox News Cheer Government Shutdown

I don't know what facts you are looking at. The fact is that Republicans agreed to keep the entire government open, sans only Obamacare. They proceeded through two more compromises that were similar, each of which would have kept the government open. Since the shutdown, they have passed bills to re-open specific pieces of the government-- the parks, cancer research and treatment, veterans benefits, among others. In EVERY case but one the Senate has simply refused to even hear the bills, and on the one they refused everything except exactly what they wanted. SO. "Unnecessary" and "avoidable" are wholly owned by the Democrats.

And considering the Gestapo tactics being employed to generate even more unnecessary "pain"-- closing open-air monuments to veterans, kicking senior citizens out of their homes, imprisoning foreign tourists, preventing families from visiting their fallen heroes' gravesites, stopping cancer treatment for kids, dropping kids out of college involuntarily, etc.-- all so that they can blame Republicans for it, is nothing short of despicable.

While having a glass of wine before bed I came across this interesting piece:

The Last Days of the GOP. We could be witnessing the death throes of the Republican Party

I don't know much about politics but the party does seem to be in disarray. What do conservative readers think?

Maybe Paul Ryan can save the party:

Exit Ted Cruz, Enter Paul Ryan

but I am having a hard time imagining any big agreement. Maybe they will be funding the govt 6 weeks at a time until the 2014 elections.
