Barr Playing Politics in Justice Department

Trump's Investigators Uncover NO Deep State (CNN)

I really have to wonder when rational conservatives will begin to understand that Trump is trying is manipulating them with lies and conspiracy theories.   I mean Trump has been in office for 3 years and neither the Senate nor his Lackeys at the Justice Department have uncovered one "Deep State Operative" who did anything worth prosecuting...

Where as a whole raft of Trump Compatriots have been charged and found GUILTY. (ABC)

Oh, I forgot the conspiracy rules...  If you can not find proof of guilt, that is proof that the conspiracy is real.  Even when the people in charge were selected by Trump... :-)

Trump is delivering judges. As awful as Trump is, he will be out office in the relatively near future, but those judges will be there forever

It is a mistake, in my opinion, to believe that in order for something to be true, there must be evidence that it is true. Conversely, there can be a lot of evidence tending to prove propositions that are false. What amazes a lot of people I talk to, is that Trump was so careless in leaving evidence of his solicitation of foreign influence in the Ukraine matter. Ordinarily, Trump is much more circumspect. The only reason he got away with it to the extent that he has is that Congress was unable to enforce subpoenas against his associates. Once Trump leaves office, what can happen is that the Department of Justice might investigate Trump's actions which could be disastrous, not just for Trump but for the Republican Party.

Correction...

"Congress was unable to enforce subpoenas against his associates."

Actually Congress chose not to proceed with the court cases that may have enabled them to enforce subpoenas...

They would have had to rely on the courts to enforce subpoenas. That's because Congress couldn't enforce subpoenas.

My modest proposal was that Congress should have sent federal marshals down to the White House and seize the subpoenaed documents. They were unwilling to do that.

That is because both the Legislative and Executive branches have equal power...

Kind of like you trying to go into your neighbors house to look for proof of a crime.

Not allowed unless a Judge approves a warrant.

The White House is not Donald's Trump's house. It's our house. And we have given Congress permission to enter.

Congress is to the President...

As you are to your neighbor...

My neighbor doesn't live in a house that belongs to me.

Checks and balances applies to relations between branches of government, but it doesn't apply in the relationship of government to the people. Trump resisting subpoenas is like an employee telling a boss that he hasn't the boss doesn't have the right to look into the job the employee is doing. In some way, Trump doesn't see himself as an employee, possibly because he has never been one. He doesn't understand, for example, that while he might be a boss, nobody in the organization works for him.
