A lot of people want to discuss politics at the extreme. Men on women's softball teams and 8th trimester abortions and what not. But what happens when you shift the issue back to the center, back where it has the most direct effect on people's lives. Ask the politician who is screaming about men on women's softball teams whether he supports gay marriage. The response is silence. As the pro life advocate whether he will accept a compromise making abortion legal in the first trimester, and see if you get a response. Ask the suddenly "pro science" conservative whether he believes in the theory of evolution, and watch how fast he scuttles away. The reason why these discussions go nowhere is because the people who want to force policy discussions toward the extremes really are the extremists. They reject the middle, where most people work and live and make the important decisions that affect their lives.==Hiram
I have seen some commentary from the center left saying that Trump does deserve at least some credit for the Gaza peace deal if it succeeds. Laurie
If you had a choice between giving the Nobel Prize to a doctor, or an organization of doctors, whose members risked their lives giving medical care in war zones or a politician who at any time could have stopped that war for political reasons, but didn't until everything in that area was destroyed, which would you choose?==Hiram
Trump does deserve some credit, I am sure Israel would have been happy to just keep blowing up buildings.
However, one can not get a Nobel Peace prize while sending armed personnel into cities, blowing up boats on the high seas, etc.
For me, it is like the business deals Trump used to make. All big picture, no details, ignoring the fact that the big picture is never anything more than a collection of details. Trump is being flattered, not because he has done anything really important, but because flattery is a tool useful in manipulating him.==Hiram
