Trump Should be Ready for Disappointment

CNN Trump Wants It NOW !!!

This is going to very interesting to watch.  We have a very impatient somewhat immature soon to be President who has no good ideas of his own trying to push the political system to get SOMETHING done NOW !!!

What do you think his temper tantrums will look like?

I can't wait to see how they show up on Saturday Night Live !!!

On the other hand, setting a fire under those do little pandering politicians is probably a worthwhile effort. Definitely much more exciting than if Hillary was going to take office.

somewhat immature? is he scaring you yet?

my best guess right now is repeal doesn't happen for awhile as I think there will be 3 senators who won't vote for it.

if we consider this topic to be about Trump in general here is a link to a topic which is sure to be in the news for at least a couple of days:

I am beginning to think Trump will not be president for very long.

If a smoking gun is found... I wonder if the Trump backers, who are likely very anti-communist will take the news...

Trump has a huge set of problems. And there is probably not a single Republican member of Congress who wouldn't prefer Mike Pence as president. Its a very volatile situation.

The House GOP has had six years to craft a plan, and now they want another month? No.

None of the moochers and wards of the state that got "free" or subsidized Obamacare plans can afford the deductibles; it's the very definition of "crap insurance". "They are still going to the ER to have their gunshot and stab wounds treated, and to de-tox". The people that actually pay for insurance they plan to use have been beaten down with insane premium hikes, in addition to the ridiculous deductibles.

Just repeal it; now. We have a lot of work to do and no time to screw around.

BTW. WADR, if commentators wish to have their opinions taken seriously, may I gently suggest they not link to leftist or right wing fake news sites? Speaking for myself, I would no sooner follow a link to Mother Jones or Breitbart for information than I would attend a Star Trek convention to learn about quantum physics.

Not that CNN, NBC, CBS or the rest are all that much better, but even an incremental improvement is better than none.

Thems fighting words here. Laurie loves her Mother Jones and Washington Post...

I often point everyone here to keep them somewhat grounded. Of course my Parents think that Fox News is fair and balanced and that everything else is liberal... So apparently TRUE NEWS is in the eye of the beholder...

Actually the insurance is fine depending on which metal you choose. It is just expensive since they have to price in coverage until 26, pre-existing conditions, people joining just long enough to get expensive work done, higher "women costs", etc...

And since it is subsidized for low income folks, the price they see may not be what they pay.

John said...

And a lot of these folks aren't used to bearing the full cost of insurance. I often use my family of 5 plan as an example... My company and I pay about $20,000 /yr for what I guess is a Gold plan...

That is a lot of expense for a household only earning $40,000 who needs to pay it out of pocket.

As always, Obamacare is a Republican plan, to which the main alternative is a Democratic plan. This has always put Republicans in a bind. There just isn't anything they can propose consistent with their own ideology that isn't a Democratic proposal, indeed that isn't much farther to the left than anything most Democrat would dare propose.

In Trump's press conference, he proposed using the market power of the federal government to drive down drug prices, something Democrats always wanted and Republicans always fiercely opposed.

I don't think you realize how good Trump's "cards" are in this poker game. With his nominee confirmed at HHS, all he has to do is enforce the law as written. Congress and their staffs are forced onto Obamacare and away from their cadillac government plan. Subsidies in states without exchanges are cancelled. Some of the other mandates, those "authorized by the Secretary" disappear. Bailouts to the insurance companies stop. And Trump hasn't lifted a finger, at that point! The first one alone should bring Congress to quickly repeal.

Trump is very vulnerable to political pressure. His history is literally to tell every audience he speaks to, exactly what they want to hear. With respect to health care, he has made promises that his supporters in Congress who owe him nothing have little reason to keep. Faced with the responsibility of promulgating sound health care policy, Donald's main priority seems to make sure Democrats get the blame for anything that goes wrong.

Trump has assembled a cabinet of mostly alpha males, the kind of people who can get things done. Unfortunately, they aren't the kind of people who know what to do. They will be given independence, but if they mess up, Trump will stab them in back. For Trump, loyalty is a one way street, directed only towards him.

Hiram,

Sure. The fact withstanding there isn't one, single, GOP fingerprint anywhere on it and 95% of GOP Governors rejected implementation in their states.

Good points, Fred, and here is another: Obamacare is NOT a "Democrat plan" since they did not know what was in it when they voted for it unanimously. Even now, it is pretty obvious it is not working according to the plan as they explained it. That "20 million" number they keep throwing around is obviously phony.

Now I know Conservatives don't want to claim ACA, but a lot of the concepts did come from GOP think tanks and politicians.

If the Liberals had their way we would have had single payer or Universal coverage, with the freedom to buy supplemental private policies. (ie Canada, Sweden, Germany, etc)

Now we know that healthcare was a huge problem for many Americans in 2008 and the GOP kept ignoring it. Now that they have to deal with... It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Sorry, but saying that the ACA is based on Republican ideas is like saying that General Motors had a great idea for an electric car, but then produced the Volt. It is a common liberal failing to believe that good intentions alone make for good legislation. And it's just irrational to believe that if the ACA really did contain reasonable implementations of sound Republican ideas that EVERY SINGLE REPUBLICAN would vote against it.

And somehow the liberals have convinced us that "healthcare was a huge problem for many Americans in 2008" when the fact was that at least 86% of us were happy with our healthcare, and of the supposed "48 million people without health insurance, a full 50 million were either self-insuring, didn't want, or were ineligible. Just one more indicator of the ACA's failure: since everybody would be insured, visits to the emergency room for routine care would disappear. They have increased.
