The Conservative Case for Voting for Clinton

So the argument seems to be that even though Republicans truly believe that Clinton and her plan to continue/ accelerate Obama's policies will be terrible for America and our children...

We should vote for her because Trump is a self centered narcissist who will in some way wreak havoc on our Democracy.

I have to wonder... If it was Bernie Sanders vs Jeb Bush running, I wonder if the moderate Democrats would have voted for Bush to avoid our country possibly being turned into a Social Democracy?

I mean both Sanders and Trump preach revolution... And revolutions move people out of their comfort zones. I am assuming many people were very nervous in the 1770's..

I plan to delay making my pointless decision (live in MN) until I am at the voting station. Right now "Mickey Mouse" is looking better than the available options.

some more anti Trump persuasion:

I think you will be very dismissive of the first link but might find the second link more interesting (you being someone who frequently brags on the magnitude and skill of your saving and investing.) About a week ago I told my mother she will take a big financial hit if Trump wins. She has not made any divestments. I think my dad might have taken action to cut his possible losses. He would have hated Trump.

Republicans are now vowing Total War. And the consequences could be immense.

The Trump Financial Panic

I also heard an NPR story about Trump and the financial markets while driving home. I am sure it is easy to find if you are too suspect of a left leaning publication.

about - If it was Bernie Sanders vs Jeb Bush running, I wonder if the moderate Democrats would have voted for Bush to avoid our country possibly being turned into a Social Democracy?

that is a really bad analogy because the reason Trump is so extremely objectionable as a potential president is not his conservative ideology. I think I have provided between 20 -50 links over the past several months about how Trump is a uniquely bad and dangerous candidate. I feel he is very likely the most unfit candidate to ever be a major party nominee for president in the history of the country.

Occasionally my family and I try to puzzle out why more than 40% of citizens will vote for Trump. Here is part of my take on this:

some people are some combination of racist, xenophobic, misogynistic (I think this is a big factor)

some people have been brain washed by right wing media ( talk radio, fox news, various websites) - another big factor

some people (such as John) are so blinded by ideology that they are unable to see how Trump is not a normal republican candidate. Trump is uniquely unhinged, unfit dangerous etc. I could provide more links on this if needed.

perhaps many moderate Dems would vote for Jeb over Bernie. While I don't think becoming more like Denmark would be a bad thing, I don't think I would want Bernie to be able to implement his whole agenda. (I'd probably still vote for him, especially with GOP checks in congress.)

make that ~ 51 anti Trump links:

Why Donald Trump could never be a normal candidate

here are the last 2 paragraphs to save you time:

"Finally, Trump has expressed impatience and contempt for many of the foundations of liberal democracy. He has repeatedly promised to change laws to make it easier to punish journalists who offend him. He has threatened people who contributed to his Republican opponents, implying that he would have the government look into their business affairs. He has proposed a number of policies that are illiberal, unconstitutional or even war crimes, such as banning all Muslims from entering the United States, and waterboarding suspected terrorists and killing their families. He has compared his ideas to the internment of U.S. citizens and noncitizens of Japanese descent during World War II, implying that he approved of that measure. And he has threatened to jail his opponent if elected.

These, then, are the core views of Donald Trump, expressed over decades, and confirmed by many of his actions: racism, sexism, protectionism, xenophobia and authoritarianism. His views on taxes and regulations are irrelevant. Your view of Hillary Clinton is irrelevant. Donald Trump is not a normal candidate. He is a danger to American democracy. And that is why I will vote against him on Tuesday."

I do agree that Trump will be harder on markets in the short term. The markets do not like the unknown... However, lower business tax rates would do wonders in the long run.

I am amazed by how Liberals support Hillary's "irredeemable deplorables" theory... How hard is it for Liberals to accept that they could be wrong? Maybe the people supporting Trump could be wise caring people who may have good healthy reasons for their beliefs. But it seems the Liberals find it easier vilify those who believe differently than themselves. Maybe it is a God complex. It is sad...

Ironically maybe it is just that condescending vitriolic speech that has almost 50% of the population supporting the person who stands against those calling names.

I have to wonder...can a President be President if he's in prison for rape?

If not, the prospect of a Pence Presidency is equally as frightening as a Trump Presidency.

Apparently now the kids are talking rape... Not just unwanted advances... Source please...

John said...

Wouldn't it be ironic if both Trump and Hillary ended up in jail for their different past transgressions... :-)

You are woefully uninformed if you are unaware of the rape case against Trump.

Unfortunately...or fortunately, if you're a republican...even the ignorant get to vote.

Joel,
Apparently this isn't getting much press time.

I assume innocent until proven guilty goes for Trump... Just as you say it should for Hillary. Correct?

Also, I thought the Liberals like yourself were supposed to be the kinder and more tolerant party... I think that is definitely incorrect given the comments I read that are written by Liberals. So many insults and names called. What a shame.

Yes, of course. I posed a hypothetical question based on current facts. I did not say he's guilty.

Pence is a much more strict and believable in his Christian ideology, and there is no way in hell I'd want him as President.

In listening to Trump, I hear proposals to engage in federal spending far beyond anything Democrats would dare to propose. Proposals which, by the way, would receive no support from Republicans in Congress.

I agree, I think both of them will have challenges with Congress.
