Press Pass Games

Thank heavens for Lawyers and Judges to block Trump's more foolish actions.
The new rules seem somewhat common sense.  Thoughts?
  • A journalist called upon to ask a question will ask a single question and then will yield the floor to other journalists.
  • At the discretion of the President or other White House official taking questions, a follow-up question or questions may be permitted; and where a follow up has been allowed and asked, the questioner will then yield the floor.
  • Yielding the floor” includes, when applicable, physically surrendering the microphone to White House staff for use by the next questioner.
  • Failure to abide by any of rules may result in suspension or revocation of the journalist’s hard pass.

Politicians do love to avoid those follow ups. But in any event, it isn't the president's job to make the rules regarding questioning. Just as it isn't reporters' job to make the rules about how a politician should answer them. Whether and to what extent follow up questions should be asked is something reporters should decide.

Not really... Like a class room, it is the person at the podium that decides who will ask the questions.

If the next reporter wants to ask a follow up question that is fine, but it is not okay to have a reporter grand stand so others do not get a chance to ask their questions.

Seems a shame that all should suffer for some jerk with no manners. Were it I, Acosta would NEVER, ever, get to ask another question. And if he shouts out of turn, his fellows should welcome his ouster.

Yet you are okay with Trump’s lack of manners, name calling, insults, etc?

Our do you think his behaviors have nothing to do with the lack of civility in his press conferences?

The latter. He is not even there most of the time.

In a classroom, it's the teacher's job to answer questions. And it's the job of the person at the podium to earn the respect of his students. If he doesn't, he will be unhappy in his job and sooner or later, will not have it.

Jerry,
And yet he forces his "talking heads" to behave in a similar manner. So in essence he dictates the confrontational tone of the conferences.

Hiram,
Agreed.

Explain something to me. Each exchanges STARTS with a "reporter" "asking a question." The WH then responds to the question. How is the form of the question NOT the beginning of a "confrontation"? Hint: watch some of these, they clearly ARE.

Jerry,

I agreed that Acosta's question was not a question, it was an accusation...

However Trump called on him hoping that would happen...

Both of them contributed to the fight.

However Trump's attacks on the 3 Black Females was totally unjustified... The reality is that he is just an obnoxious ass who attacks anyone who disagrees with his "perception of reality"...

How else can one explain the incredible staff turnover in the White House?

Well other than he really is bad at personnel selection. :-)
