I wonder what Trump was thinking... In his little delusional world he is a popular genius, and yet faced with 10,000+ boos and many chants of "lock him up". How does he process this? Can he even acknowledge that ~50% of Americans dislike or detest him?
Usually I would say it is wrong to boo the POTUS, however I think it is okay with Trump given how negative and critical Trump is of everyone who disagrees with him.

About six in ten “crime guns” seized by Chicago Police originated from gun shops outside of Illinois, according to a 2017 report issued by the department. Crime guns are defined by law enforcement as those that are “illegally possessed, used, or suspected to be used in furtherance of a crime.”
In about 95 percent of cases, the person found in possession of a crime gun is not the original purchaser of the weapon, the report said.

An interesting and unfortunate take on the booing.
Politicians are usually booed at sports events. I don't think Trump would have had any problem with some video of being booed in Washington. But it turned to be a little to pointed for his taste, I think. This was quite possibly the first time in his presidency and maybe his campaign before that where Trump has gone before a crowd not pre selected in his favor. It reminds all of us that he is the least admired president in history.

It's a free country. Members of the chattering classes don't get to instruct the rest of us what to do.
Now if it were a political party thing, that would be different. In 2016, the Republicans had a cut out of Hillary Clinton dressed in prison garb at their state fair booth. If Democrats do that with Trump in 2020, let's just say they would get all sorts of heck from me. I don't instruct voters how to vote, but I am perfectly okay with telling my political party how to behave.
