Red Meat to his Cult Members...
The man is insane and yet the Cult Members are eating it up. :-O

It is interesting that a leader of one of our two political parties thinks people like me are "vermin".

Is that better or worse than deploreable? :-)
I do agree with you that villifying and de-humanizing people should have no place in politics.
I think it is a lot worse. Of course Trump was referring very much to people like me, and he was making a fairly explicit threat. == I will make an admisstion here. I am pretty comfortable in describing people do that, and people who support them as "deplorable", or at the very least their language is deplorable.

One of the things I am most ashamed of is how Obama disrupted the transition of power to Donald Trump. IP thought it was terrible when Hillary Clinton refused to concede the day after the election. I thought it was awful how Democrats made a huge issue of how Mr. Trump lost the popular vote. I thought it was awful, how President Obama refused to invite Mr. and Mrs. Trump to the White House in the week after the election. I thought it was terrible and contrary to the national interests when President Obama refused to release funds allocated to the transition for the incoming transition to the Trump Administration. I was shocked when President Obama and Hillary refused to attend the inauguration. I worried that their refusal to publicly acknowledge and accept the transition of power sent a message of weakness to the world. And over the years, when former President Obama said to the world that his successor was weak and incompetent and not up to the challenges of the job, it terrified me that our adversaaries, always receptive to those messages, would believe him.
I was critical of all these things in real time. Except that none of them happened. Somehow the "both sides" argument, so beloved of the chattering classes, just wasn't available. Except for the odd remark made by someone who despite winning the popular vote, never became president.

I agree that Trump and his cronies are in a disturbing class of their own.
