Sam at MinnPost does a good job of discussing the farm bill negotiations. I am never certain why the Feds are involved in these areas at all, it seems to me that food and farm security should be handled at the State level. However the reality is that many citizens seem to believe the States can not take care of their own citizens and land... :-(

Farm and food are heavily involved in interstate and global commerce. Markets in food are divided up by state boundaries.

I understand the Feds passing rules and ensuring the States play nice with each other. (ie trade)
However the need to collect and redistribute billions of dollars per year is what puzzles me.
I guess for farm insurance it makes some sense since it is insurance and weather varies by region. Midwest has a drought... The premiums from the South can help cover it.

Are you saying The states the woman lived in could not have cared for the woman and her child without federal intervention.
States can not be trusted to provide an adequate safety net. Look at how many states deny their citizens health care by opting out of Obamacare medicaid expansion.

And given the disasters and broken homes in urban America, I just don't see that Liberal confidence and high horse being justified.

It's better to presume that people need and want health care than to act as though those people don't deserve it, which is your response to the "unsuccessful".

Knowing what I believe is rather challenging since I am questioning it much of the time.
Now I presume nothing about the citizens of Wyoming except that they know their culture and fellow citizens much better than we do. Therefore I think they are best suited to create social safety nets, training programs, healthcare programs, etc for their citizens.
Whereas I know that many of the Federal programs that you support have contributed to the segregated neighborhoods, broken homes, unlucky children, dependency, generational poverty, etc that exists in the urban areas.
I don't think that is necessarily worth bragging about.
The good news is that now more people in Liberal states will actually be paying their full share of the Federal Tax bill. :-) No More writing off State taxes over $10,000. I wish they would have made it $0.
Why do you put your political ideology ahead of concern for poor people lacking access to health care? Are the needs of someone with cancer in Texas different than the needs of someone with cancer in MN? It is clear to me that both are in nee of affordable treatment.

As Jerry would say... Having health insurance and having good health care are not necessarily the same. That said, remember that I saw good and bad things about ACA.
And besides American citizens are always free to move to a State of their choice. No real reason for Liberal Urban Minnesotans to force their will on people in Wyoming. Especially before this year when folks in Liberal states could avoid paying some of the National bill.
What confuses me is that Liberals say that we should respect other cultures and belief systems, even as they demand that all 50 states comply with their beliefs. However I guess that is why the DEMs are below the horizontal line along with the GOP. Both parties want to control America in their own way.
