CEO Rational Gun Control Letter

NPR CEO Gun Control Letter
  1. Back ground checks on all gun transfers
  2. Process to remove guns from mentally unwell people
I will never understand why people are against these common sense changes. The only thing I can come up with is that they want to support the illegal and undocumented exchanges that enable the criminal and insane folks to easily get very dangerous weapons.
Over there I have been asking Jerry the following questions.
  1. What do you want to do to save these innocent victims?
  2. Or is their dying an appropriate cost so people can have certain guns with no record of ownership or personal responsibility?
  3. How to stop legal guns from flowing to the illegal market?
Obviously he has given no good answers...

I truly believe that freedom comes with responsibility. If I am free to own and use a deadly weapon, I am responsible to ensure MY weapon stays secure and out of the hands of mentally deranged and/or criminal individuals.

We know that the guns are being purchased through legal channels, and then diverted to mentally deranged and/or criminal individuals. Thus enabling the deaths of thousands of innocent unsuspecting citizens. And yet anti-gun control people fear holding these gun diverting citizens to account even as the children die.

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Attributed to Edmund Burke, including by John F Kennedy in a speech in 1961. Burke didn’t say it, and its earliest form was by John Stuart Mill, who said in 1867: “Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing.” Thanks to Andrew Marshall."

Why do YOU want to enforce your radical anti-gun agenda on everybody? It's not rational in the least.

John said...

Because I want to know that the people with guns are mentally healthy and law abiding.

Why are you against these 2 very simple logical things?

1. Back ground checks on all gun transfers
2. Process to remove guns from mentally unwell people

I always find it curious that you are so adamant that guns need to be an opaque market where the insane and criminals can source weapons so easily?

Even our automobiles are far more transparent. One must file paperwork when ownership changes. No fuss No muss.

And if your automobile is used in a crime, I am assuming that you had better have a pretty good reason why it was not in your driveway.

A, I do not have a constitutional right to keep and "bear" an automobile. And B) good intentions usually make bad law. If you want background checks on all gun transfers, we assume under some penalty of law, then how are you going to stop the millions of illegal gun transfers that already take place? Criminals do criminal things; law-abiding citizens do not. If laws worked, these mass shootings would never take place in "gun free zones." And you have to ask, if the violence in Chicago is caused by guns coming ILLEGALLY into there from nearby places, why don't those nearby places have the crime and violence?

Now, if you want red flag laws that allow for full due process and prohibit anonymous and spiteful witnesses, that could work. That is NOT what you are proposing.

John said...

You do have right to bear arms.

Not to stockpile unregistered weapons.

As for the gun rights loss process... I have proposed one.

Again... why do you want to keep it easy for the criminal and insane folks to reload their weapons closet.

John said...

Oops have not proposed one...

I DO have a right to keep and bear unregistered weapons. If I register them, it is possible they can be confiscated or stolen, violating that right. And Beto has confirmed that as a definite objective.

Why do I want criminals and insane people to have guns at all? I don't, and you can quit implying I do. But criminals and insane will always get them, since they need them for their criminal/insane purposes, whereas all the laws you can pass will only serve to disarm law-abiding citizens. It's not rational.

Yes, it's tragic, and eliminating all guns would require criminals to use bombs, trucks, fire, or something else that otherwise, an armed citizenry might be able to stop. But the problem isn't the tool, the problem is the evil mind, in a culture that doesn't discourage it.

Oh, and the good news? You don't have to prescribe a red flag law. Trump has already outlined the nature of an acceptable one. Let's use that one.

John said...

I don’t think so. Otherwise states could not require it.

Of course you want to make it easy for the criminals and insane to get guns, or you would support making transactions transparent and recorded.

They could use other weapons... But why when you support them getting guns.

Source for Trump’s proposal? I have seen squat from Trump.
