I understand Facebook’s desire to rid itself of terrible speech, especially given the rise of online hate. But when considering how to deal with the worst ideas, it’s prudent to rely on principles of free speech and common law that have served America so well for so long. Facebook has a right to invent its own rules, but perhaps it’s better to exercise that right by deferring to the wisdom of the past."The challenge of course is that FaceBook can get sued and be pulled in front of Congress when things go wrong. Personally I agree with their decision, we need more civil discourse and ideas. Not more conspiracy theories and hate speech.

Speech is free, but you don't have to be in business with it. Gun advocates firmly believe making guns available to psychopaths doesn't make the slaughter of of innocents more likely. The media companies who provide facilities those same psychopaths use to express their views publicly aren't quite so sure.

Of course Liberals who want Businesses to be forced to associate with everyone may disagree.
It's a question of perspective, really. Most businesses want to avoid political controversy, but some are in the business of inviting it. In general, I don't have a problem with selling groceries to potential murderers, but I do have a problem with selling them semi automatic firearms. If that's a contradiction, I guess I am comfortable with it.
